The Disney Magic was the first of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Having her Maiden Voyage out of Port Canaveral in Cape Canaveral, Fl on July 30, 1998, the Disney Magic boasts
11 decks, 875 staterooms, and can accommodate
2,700 passengers and 950 crew. The Disney Magic sits at
300m long and weighs approximately
83,338 tons, making her the third-largest (or second smallest) ship in Disney’s fleet.
As with the other ships in the fleet, the Disney Magic boasts two theaters, the
Walt Disney Theater which plays host to multiple stage productions, including
Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story, Disney Dreams- an Enchanted Classic, and Tangled: The Musical. The second theater is the
Buena Vista Theater which plays host to multiple films, both current and old Disney films throughout the day. On top of the two theaters, one of the smokestacks is a decoy, hosting instead, a massive screen.
On top of the live performances, the Disney Magic includes other entertainment, such as
Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave Party, a celebration at the set-sail of each cruise. On top of that, every itinerary includes a
Pirate Night when Captain Mickey and his band of scallywags host a rocking celebration on the pool deck. On select cruises, the Disney Magic hosts
Marvel Day at Sea, a day when your favorite faces from Marvel come to spend a day in a tropical paradise.
Included on the Disney Magic are multiple dining venues. For the main dining, the restaurant hosts include
Animator’s Palate, Lumiere’s, and
Rapunzel’s Royal Table. For casual dining, there is the buffet at
Cabanas, as well as counter take out at
Duck-In Diner and
Pinocchio’s Pizza. For adults looking for a quiet place away from the children, The Disney Magic offers
Palo.
The ship hosts two pools; the main pool called
Goofy’s Pool on the 11th deck as well as adult-only
Quiet Cove Pool. The youngsters can hang out at the
Aqualab, a water play area, and for the older kids, the floor-drop water slide the
AquaDunk is available as well.
For the adults-only, there are multiple experiences including adult-only clubs, including
Fathoms, a dance club, and
Keys, a piano bar. As for the younger kids, the
Oceaneer’s Club is a kid’s club where they can hang out, play games, and make all kinds of new friends. For ages 11-14 there is
Edge and for 14-18 there is a special teen club called
Vibe.
On top of all of the other experiences, there is a sport’s deck including a basketball court, ping-pong and foosball tables, and a full fitness center.
The Disney Magic has itineraries to the
Bahamas, the
Caribbean, and
Europe.
