Save Alien Encounter

Yeah, sorry to add another log to the fire, but I don't care for Alien Encounter either. It's scares me to death! And I like intense rides, that one is too much though.
I came off it the very first time I rode it... not a happy camper...
And this like 8 year old kid behind me goes, "Dad that was awesome, can we ride it again!" I was a little embarrassed

Memories

Wow...I can't believe that AE is closing down. I loved it...

Boy I even remember when it was Mission to Mars (or something like that)

Plus AE was the first ride that I went on with a cute guy (that I picked up coming off a ride)...ah those were the days. And everytime I have gone on it...I have always been scared...which is a good thing.

I had no idea that this was happening...I was just down there in April 2002 and there was no talk or anything, even a referb wasn't talked about.

Now to get on the topic of Stich? Why do we need another kiddy thing? The last few times that I have been there....I just find more and more rides that are geared toward kids, but what about us adults? What about the adults that bring their kids? Do they not deserve some great rides in the Kingdom of the Mouse?

I say they need to stick to something more adult/teen orintated)sp?) I know, i know that WDW is for the children...but I go there alot...and I don't bring a kid with me...I go with my friends (or boyfriend-if i am dating at the time), and I love rides!

I have only ridden AE once and that was enough for me. It wasn't scary for me and was actually kind of funny because it seems so old and outdated in many ways. It was cool to get squirted with water as that startled me, but I think a new storyline would help this ride. A kid on the ride was crying so hard and screaming which took away from the experience. I felt so bad for him. He is probably still having nightmares about it.

Disney should gut the building and get rid of the circle theater. For Mission to Mars the circle theater made sense, but not for most rides. I liked Mission to Mars at DL, but that too went the way of the Dodo.

Disney does need to update rides. People who come to WDW often bring in the bucks for the company, so if a ride is becoming boring or old then something needs to be done to get people to ride it again. AE isn't a ride I would want to ride over and over again.

Some attractions are classics and some just aren't and never will be. This one is not. To me, it' s not worth all the standing that goes along with it and the scare factor doesn't happen anymore after the first couple of times, so then what's the point? That's my personal opinion.
If no one else is going to say this then I will--some people on this board need to simmer down a bit. Yes there are people that only get to go every few years and I'm sorry that it's like that for you, but the repeat visitors are the ones who shell out the bucks and that's what Disney listens to. $$$ talks.
Just because I go every few months doesn't mean that I don't appreciate it as much as people who only get to go every 4-5 years.
If you don't like hearing about Forbidden Mountain and Project Gemini then don't read the posts about them. That's pretty simple. This board is for people to express their opinions about Disney(good or bad), not for people to express their opinions about other people expressing their opinions about Disney. (I hope that made sense, it made sense in my head:veryconfu ) With the risk of sounding cheesy, I think we should try NOT to direct negativity at other members about their opinions. That's all. Thanks for reading. ;)

Not to go off subject, but one time I was waiting to ride Rock n Roller Coaster and the car before ours got to ride twice in a row without even getting out of their seats b/c for some reason the sound wasn't working correctly. I was so jealous!! It must have been cool for them, unless they were feeling sick:hurl:
Okay I just wanted to use that smilie so that's why I added that last phrase. :animwink:

Grown Tired to WHO?!? I'm sorry, but my family cannot afford to go to Disney once or twice a year like some people on these boards. So when we do go, we don't go around nitpicking with our magnifying glasses in hand. Attractions are NEVER tiring to us, since we are even happy to be there. My family usually goes to WDW every 4-5 years. Sure, most of you would probably faint if it happened to you. Maybe some of you should try it, there are other places in the world (NOT WDW, EARTH). Give Disney a break every now and then. Then when you return you will appreciate what is sitting in the parks. You will be fine with the time and money Disney has put into their attractions. I'm just sick and tired of people who complain and complain about when "Forbidden Mountain" will be built or when "Project: Gemini" will plant it's first tree, then when you take a look at their profiles, their last trip to WDW was always less than one year ago. Try skipping WDW for a year or two (GASP), you'll appreciate what's there when you return, trust me.

:)

I personally dont think that I could do that :animwink: but I totally agree with your response. Alien Encounter was my high school basketball team's (they were playing in a tournament at the Wide World of Sports) favorite MK attraction. So to first time visitors (and even most return visitors) AE still packs probably the biggest punch in the park (to the over 12 - under 40 crowd). I try not to be negative thinking but I will be seeing AE as many times as possible in July.

Hey I sit though it like 10 times a day and I still get a kick out of it I waited 20 long years to get to see Disney and I hate to see the attraction that I first saw go to crap!!!

I just love the irony of this.

On the one hand, people are complaining that Disney is taking away a ride for teens and young adults (AE) and making it more family friendly.

On the other hand, in threads about Gemini, people are complaining that WDW is taking away all the family-friendly attractions and replacing them with "cheap thrills."

My own personal view is people should appreciate WDW for what it is and accept that change is and always will be a constant.

I see your point at the end but I do think that there is a difference in these two possible changes. The Magic Kingdom is almost completely family friendly. Alien Encounter is sort of a nice change of pace for that park. But the Gemini change is a LITTLE more drastic :animwink: . I personally have mixed feeling about the possible Gemini change but that also means that if done properly I would be very happy with it. So like I said earlier I can see where you are coming from but these two possible changes really are not comparable. This is my opinion at least.

IMO that's a normal CM thing...

Doesn't the same thing goes for:

Snow white
Peter Pan
Small World..

etc. etc...

As long as the general public likes it, what's the fuzz..

We all know Alien Encounter needs some freshing up...
a new theme maybe... but certainly NOT Stitch...

Well... plans have been made, but for what...
That should be the surprise....

Never! I think I've heard it discussed but don't remember specifics. I think 2005 maybe. But hopefully Chairman Clench can do something about that :animwink:
