If you knew about a new pathway that will link Future World to Test Track...

Now you know the satellite dishes were removed.

The gazebo is going to be used as a butterfly station for the Flower and Garden Festival, and it's said to be temporary.

Hopefully, the path will better accommodate guests, but I will miss the nice "open field" look.

Are you referring to the ones that were painted with the large sunflower design?

Tsk Tsk Tsk.

I suppose, however, (don't kill me please) that SOME people might have considered these bad show. Back when EPCOT opened, satellite technology was right in there with all the futuristic stuff in Future World. The response was "cool, a satellite dish!" But now, satellite technology is kind of ho-hum, especially since people are used to seeing old C-band dishes in backyards around the country, not to mention DirecTV/Dish Network dishes everywhere. Now the reaction is probably more like "yuck -- what's that satellite dish doing in the middle of EPCOT?"

They never bothered me. I'll miss them.

I really never gave the sats much thought, do remember seeing them even on our last trip but does anyone know what they were used for if at all or were they just for show?

Hmm... definitely looks different. It's pretty big! I read somewhere that the gazebo was removeable, but the pathway was there to stay. Any truth to this??...

I would hope so, its hard to get back to Future World East from Test Track without going through MouseGear or walk all the way back to the walkway between MouseGear and the Electric Umbrella.

I guess I was one of those that thought those dishes were bad show. If it was obvious what they were being used for, that's one thing. But, to me at least, they were an eyesore.

Here's a pic of where they were located. I've circled the dishes in red. The yellow trace indicates about there the new path is... sorta.
