Any comments from anyone who has stayed at Saratoga Springs? My wife and I bought a DVC membership to there without seeing it and have our first trip planned for May 05.

From what I've seen.... it is beautiful!!!!!!!!! Compared to the Disney Istitutue, it is a huge step forward. The location isn't great though. It is probably the furthest Disney Resort away from each of the parks. Both my dad and my aunt and uncle took a tour and said they were very impressed, especially by the Grand Villa!!! According to them, they still believe Old Key West is better and would rather stay there.

As far as the amenities it is right there with the Grand Floridian. Offering such things as an awesome golf couser right on site (Lake Buena Vista Course) and one of the top Spas in the area. It really gives you a lot of "bang for your buck!!"

Getting there

Good observations; would note also that some Guests might enjoy the proximity to Downtown Disney. Of course, walking DD one end to the other is, like, a couple of miles each way!

I look forward to the day when Saratoga Springs is complete and the dust has settled (or been swept up, one would expect). It's getting there.

Where to have a birthday party?

My son is going to have his 7th birthday while we are at WDW. He has 5 sibblings all ranging from 15 to 6 mos and we were wondering what the best restaurant would be to celebrate his birthday?

I haven't stayed there, but I spent a good amount of time at SSR for an event. Saratoga Springs is like a mini-Celebration, Florida. It's quite large. SSR is right across from Downtown Disney. At night, it's beautiful with the lights shining across the lake. You can take a short walk over a bridge near the golf coarse to get there. The SSR food court is great. Lots of fresh, diverse selections. My biggest surprise with SSR is the size of the rock pool. It's rather small. You'll have fun either way.

I stayed at SSR over the summer. I was really impressed by it. It has a nice elegant theme. I really enjoyed our room. We had a 2 BR with a great view of DTD. There is construction around the resort, but you can't tell once you're in your room. I think it's held to the same standard as the other DVC resorts, but with the elegance closer to the GF.

I will be there in 7 more days. I can't wait. So I will have a SSR review to add when I get back.

I must say I am a little depressed to hear that the High Rock Springs pool is smaller than expected. I saw the photos on wdwinfo of the pool area and it looked fairly large, but then pictures never do any justice. I will have to see with my own eyes.

Did I say only 7 more days!! :sohappy: :sohappy:

They don't have a restaurant at SS.

We just stayed at SSR and thought it was very nice. The only thing is that they don't have a real sit down restaurant. There is an area that you can get a quick meal, but for this style of resort, you would expect a nice restaurant. What they have is not bad. We were told that since the Marketplace is so close, Disney did not feel that a full service restaurant was needed. I tend to differ with that opinion. I do recommend that you stay there.

This resort gets a

Here is my review of SSR for 12/4 - 12/11

The first view of the resort was nice except for the current construction going on. Apon entering the lobby I was surprised by the small size of it. The CM's throughout the resort were extremely helpful and friendly. They really made us feel at home. We headed to the room and got a tour of the resort from bell services and were stunned by the beauty. Our room was a single bedroom on the 4th floor looking directly at DTD. The views were amazing at night with all the holiday lights and the fireworks over PI at midnight (if we were still awake). The room was clean and had more than enough space for us, The bussing however was the downfall. Since the resort only has 4 buildings currently open the amount of guests is fairly minimal and they do not run as many busses. A lot of time on the busses we were the only ones on it. I think the most people we had on a SSR bus was 10. And that was at closing of MK and the resort was at 95% capacity according to the CM that checked us in. The bussing should definately get better once the rest of the buildings open up.
Another great thing was the walk to DTD was no more than 10 minutes. It is a shorter walk than from the bus stop @ MK to the Cindy's castle. This makes shpping easier and a great place to go something to eat. Do yourself a favor and do not take the bus back to the resort. The bus has to stop at the DTD west stop. The bus ride is about 15 minutes of longer depending on the time of day.

This was a great resort and I cannot wait to get back there and again sit on the balcony looking at DTD and PI while sipping a glass of wine and relaxing after a long day in the parks. :king:

I agree with most of the previous poster said, philarmagician. We actually were staying there at the same time. May have been on the empty bus with you at some point.

The bus system is the biggest draw back in my mind. The lobby was a little blah as well. After that it was all uphill.

We had the grand villa and were very happy with everything about the room. The door did not lock but they had that fixed the next morning. Our view our downtown disney was wonderful. We enjoyed walking along the water at night and hearing the "noise" of pleasure island. We even could see the fireworks at midnight. The noise was not an issue inside our room. We were right by the playground and the pool and loved our location. Housekeeping was great. We loved having the washer/dryer in the room. With a toddler that is almost a must.

It was a little too cool for us to go swimming while we were there. As I said we were by a quiet pool but I did go check out the other pool, it was very well finished but did seem a little small for a resort that will have so many rooms once done.

Enjoy you DVC.

I did not stay there but, my uncle did while we were at the Contemporary. He said it was very spread out and hard to find his room. He preferes staying in a building like Contemp.
