Hello! My family will soon be staying at SSR for the first time for a few nights! We plan on spending a day at the resort to hang by the pool and do things around the resort. I know the resort is pretty spread out but section would be the best to request so we are close to the feature pool, bus stop, lobby, food, etc? Thanks so much!

We always request the Grandstand. It is the first stop for the buses to/from the parks. It has a separate quiet pool with a pool bar during the day, and the walk to the main pool and building is less than 5 minutes from anywhere.

The Springs section is closest to the main pool and building, however, it is the last bus stop when going to/from the parks, and will almost guarantee that you will be standing in the mornings.

Hope you have a great trip!

We stayed in the Paddock section 1st floor right across from the pool. Great slide!:D There's a grill that serves breakfast and lunch. It also has a refill mug station- very convenient.:D The High Rock Springs Pool is just across the bridge where Artists Palette and Turf Club Bar & Grill is. The DTD boat is there as well.
We never waited more than 10 minutes for the bus @ The Paddock Station and even though it wasn't the 1st stop, it only took a few extra minutes.;)
We absolutely loved our stay @ SSR!:D
Enjoy!:)

I'm looking forward to seeing the replies to this!
We're staying at SSR for the first time in December, and I think our travel agent requested Congress Park with it being nearer to DTD, but no idea if this is a good location to be in, in general?

Congress Park is beautiful! It is a walk to the main pool area High Rock Springs, and even longer to my favorite pool area The Paddock. If you want peace and quiet and don't need to get a mug refill or what have you, then CP is good for you.;) The walk to DTD is quite long, but it's gorgeous!:) We took the boat back- it takes you to the main area where Turf Club Bar & Grill is. If you have a car, then it's fine. You can drive around the huge resort!;)
We loved it! It was as cozy as being at home.:)
The Carousel section is the farthest away.
The Springs section is closest to the main building.
The Grandstand ( people like this it seems) is across from the main area.
Have fun!:D

Thank you for such a great explanation :)
We won't be using the pools (going in December!), but won't have a car either so getting to DTD and the buses at SSR are going to be important!
I'm glad to hear that it felt like 'home'. That's exactly what I was hoping for, by staying there. It's actually going to be the first time I've stayed properly on site (first stay was at Buena Vista Palace, across from DTD, and the second was at Dolphin), so I'm incredibly excited!! :D

I agree with bethymouse - we to stayed in Paddock right next to the pool and bus stop - it was the choice for our family. Our then 4 yrs old thought that the pool was just for him. And the buses come quickly - I also have to say most of the time the buses were empty only once did we have to stand.

We never had to stand!:D It was by far the best resort experience I've ever had ( even better than the POLY.)Oops! Did I just say that?

Congress Park. Very close to main building/pool. Closest section to Marketplace section DTD (roughly 10 minute walk), which includes the bus station to the other resorts. Quiet pool right there (with laundry facilities if you're not staying in a 1 or 2BR Villa).

We stayed in Congress Park last year and enjoyed it. I thought the walk to DTD was nice. I didn't find it too long. It is a quiet area. The place grew on me as the week went by. It was different than other places we stayed at. Seems like an older crowd with less kids around. At least while we were there. I would definitely go back again, and stay in CP. The proximity to DTD is worth going back alone.
