We are heading down on March 1st to use our developer points got 100 points when we added 100 at BLT, (Wish it was somewhere other than Saratoga, we r spoiled with The Beach Club) but its a free trip and warmer than NH. My question is the best room numbers or building to request so we can walk to downtown Disney comforatbly?? We don't mind walking 1/2 mile or so but the whole place looks like its 5 miles in size. Any recomendations?

Congress Park is the closest to DTD, But the Springs is closest to the Carriage House(lobby) The Grandstand is also pretty close to the boat launch with boats running every 30 mins on the hour and 1/2 hour, then every 15 after 4ish till 11pm

You can also walk to DTD though the golf course. Walk down to the golf course and follow the path. You go over the river, across the parking lot, and end up over by Cirque de Solei.

At night they put a security guard on the path to watch over the people going back to SSR. Also to direct people who were having too much fun at the Adventurer's Club (Not that I would know anything about that)

I prefer the Grandstands. They are close to the boat launch / path to DTD (they are in the same spot) They are pretty close to the main building (food court/check in/main pool) They are the only "group" of buildings that have a bar at the quiet pool area. Even if you don't drink, it's nice to be able to grab a soda or something. All the other "groups" of buildings have a quite pool (or share one) but you have to walk all the way over to the main building if you want something to drink.

Some also have a nice view of the golf course, if thats your cup of tee. thats like a joke, tea, tee, golf, ... yeah, its late.

Is it a long walk? 15 minutes plus?

It depends on where you're going in Downtown Disney. Remember that place is huge, too! The golf course path takes you to the extreme end of the West Side (by Cirque). If you're going to the Marketplace, you'd have to walk through the West Side and Pleasure Island to get there.

If you're going to House of Blues, on the other hand, it isn't too bad.

We didn't want to wait for a room to be ready on our last trip, so we took a villa in the last building in the Paddocks section. Our balcony looked out on the Congress Park bus stop. We would have been much closer had we been in a Congress Park building, but where we were wasn't too much farther.
