Does anybody know what the salaries are for Disney Imagineers? It has always been my dream job but I will be starting out at around $50,000 so I dont know if it would be worth following my dream. What do you think?

try again. . .

Well if you're interested in only money and not the love of disney and the love of creation then I would highly suggest looking into a different job. WDI pays like most jobs: professional experience in the entertainment industry, education, and skill level. If you want more money then I hope you have the following:
A kick a** portfolio that demonstrates your skills and talents that where gained in college both undergrad and masters (obtained from a major design university such as CalArts of the Art Center College of Design) and your professional experience of 5-8 years in the entertainment industry designing for major companies. If you have these then your requirements for more money maybe met, but if you're looking for a job transfer and you don't have high credentials then most likely you'll be taking a pay cut... starting at the bottom and working your way up. But once again if you're only in it for the money I'd look elsewhere. Some people would ask for way less for the chance to work at WDI.

I think salaries *are* important...

...at least to know what you're getting yourself into. It also helps to know yourself. Is your dreamjob really to work at WDI? Or is it to do something creative? There are a lot of jobs out there that require creativity... some of them don't even exist yet!

I think there are a few people on this planet who have the gift of knowing exactly what they should do with their lives. The rest of us are just guessing. At the risk of sounding like a heretic to those ine the business of fine arts, if you're not totally sure, follow the money. Not the lawyer/doctor type of money, but the type of jobs where you can make a living in the type of job that makes you happy.

Don't force yourself into a corner where the only career that makes you happy is one with WDI. That's sort of like a computer programmer who only wants to work at IBM or a talented baseball player who only wants to play for the Atlanta Braves.

They could pay me in peanuts for all I care. Heck they wouldn't even have to pay me. I'd do anythng to work at WDI. Gotta keep my fingers crossedand keep working hard in college.

I agree. I don't care where I live or how much I make, so long as I can be a mechanical design engineer for WDI. I'll just have to keep up all this college studying I'm doing, and plenty of luck and experience.
