....a few years ago, the Political Correctness freaks took the guns out of the hands of the Jungle Cruise skipper....now, the game warden no longer stands with a weapon pointed at those miserable poachers at the end of the AK Safari ride....the Rambo style activity ends up with the warden standing there with a radio in his/her hand...sheeesh, give them a lollipop to suck on too why dontcha!!!!.

Perhaps there going to replace the gun with a loaded fast food container. If this latest lawsuit is to be believed that would be a more lethal weapon.:D

Personally I'm not a big fan of the poaching theme. I can see why they put it in there, and they deserve points for trying to raise awareness, but to me it comes across as hoaky. So really, gun or no gun, I wish the scene wasn't there.

But I have to agree with the sentiment that political correctness can ruin a good thing.

Yeah the whole story for Kilimanjaro Saffaris is really weak. I think they should leave it at just that, a saffari.

I feel that the poaching stoy is quite stupid- however... If Disney does not have this story then it is just a safari ride. And that would make the park more like a zoo. You gotta admit just sitting in a truck driving around animals is very zoo-like.

Disney wants it to have a story so they don't get more people thinking it's just another zoo- cuz many do, believe me...i've talked to them. The types of families who have gone once or twice and are still 'tourists'.

Because if it does get the reputatio of just being a zoo- think about it: What would you rather spend $45/pp and a day of your vacation? A zoo, or a theme park with a few rides and attractions that you see animals?

I think the story is fine...people need to gain awareness about poaching...but I think the pre-show video does a better job of making guests aware of the problem...

I think that even worse than the guns is the PC Pirates... Talk about not only ruining a ride, they're also historically incorrect!

Just to go off topic a little - but did you know the shorts they show on Ink and Paint club and Quack Attack have been edited for PC? What's next, Bambi? His mother was shot after all.

This is the same thing they did with the re-release of E.T. They took the guns out of the hands of the cops at the end and put walkie talkies in their place.

I agree Disney is to PC. I mean they went as far as changing the name of a resort.

Oh...I never noticed that though...

Wouldn't the gun add more to the "reserve" theme...I mean are they going for realism or PC-ness?

Don't the game wardens in Africa carry around guns?

>>>Don't the game wardens in Africa carry around guns?<<<

You betcha. You think they want to take the chance of getting eaten?

I don't care about the guns on the safari tour, but I DO want them back on the Jungle Cruise. Removing them was ludicrous.

Game wardens carry guns because it is not unusual to get into firefights with poachers.
The theme of the attraction is excellent in my opinion, giving a genuine sense to the Haramby village. Otherwise its just a trog around a well manicured zoo, in a truck with poor suspension.
Perhaps the PC mob should turn their attention to the UK pavillion, after all curry has replaced fish n chips as our national dish:)
Im sorry but to me things like this obscure real and genuine issues and trivialise things .
Pas me another burger Mabel im feeling dangerous..........
