Sadly, it's been 15 and 5 years since...

I do love Soarin and would not take that away. But I just love the Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit song. I have that on my phone and it went off once. A lady sitting nearby freaked out when she heard it. I then transfered the file to her. She was so happy.

Those were great shows! I still love to sing some Pita Gabriel or the Peach Boys now and then along on the radio. Thank you for the pictures.

You know it is interesting that Disney is trying to offer more and more healthy alternatives at their dining venues considering they used to have Food Rocks (after Kitchen Cabaret). These two shows were about healthy eating hmmm...bring it back baby! :ROFLOL:

Good times in The Land...

"As you heard, my friends. You want me to explain. If the palette is an act. The mealtime blues will go away. The food groups, every time you dine, will keep you feeling fine. You'll have such a healthy smile, and feeling good makes each day shine and shine."

I'm sad about Kitchen Kabaret and it's great animatronics (which had so much personality to them in their basic design, and then came to life too!) and songs gone.

Food Rocks? Not sad at all, since it already destroyed what made Kitchen Kabaret so great (basic moving figures are far better than fully designed and wonderfully animated figures right? Plus I found the songs to be forgettable and annoying).

^ to respond to this, we've brought the extras from History of the World Part 1 to sum up their opinion:

"BULL S***!"

at least now a days.

I hate when people just randomly bring up that quote to justify any change at a Disney theme park.

I didn't realize moving forward meant tearing out a show that was educational about healthy eating, for a glorified hang gliding experience that has nothing to do with The Land.

And......destroying the skyline behind Canada. :zipit:

But then, from what I sense I'm hearing (and making assumptions about the thinking around this), ANY change to any park could not be justified. There are so many of these "why did they get rid of . . ." threads and most respondents do jump on the bandwagon when something disappears. You can only go back to the EXACT same park year after year so many times.

This isn't a "why did they get rid of?" thread, and yes you are making assumptions, this is just a thread to remember two attractions that are no longer at Epcot and all you did was post a quote that contributed nothing to the conversation and came off as an insulting "get over yourselves and stop thinking about it" manner.

As for changes some are good, some are bad, you can't say that every change to WDW ever was good (and if you did you're a stinking liar), and is it really wrong to just start a thread to remember something that is gone now?

And if you don't have anything to contribute to the conversation, I suggest you don't post here and have fun somewhere else.

Well said!

My intentions in creating this thread was to remember these attractions because of their closing anniversary, not to bash the idea of change in Epcot. These attractions were, after all, in EPCOT -- Change is to be expected.

Kitchen Kabaret and Food Rocks continue to be missed by myself. Good to see others who remember them fondly as well.

And your right. You can't go back to the EXACT same park year after year. I expect change. Change is good.

I just expect the changes to still fulfill the promises of Future World (or any of the other lands), not just to add an attraction because it's popular at DLR. Food Rocks, and Kitchen Kabaret were shows that taught healthy eating habits, and fit into The Land pavilion. They made sense. Had they made a change for another attraction that did the same, you wouldn't hear a peep from me. It's why I still love Livin' With the Land (I do miss the old song), it's been *gasp* changed, but I think it's better.

Oh yes, And I love One Little Sparks threads. They often bring me back to so many happy memories from my childhood trips to EPCOT, and make me remember my most recent trips as well!

They had to change out KK when they lost the sponsorship with Kraft.

I was a fan of both shows, whether it was the nuttiness of Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit or some of my favorite rock songs parodied with a message of good nutrition. Both provided Epcot style edu-tainment. It was sad to see them go, but Soarin is well worth the sacrifice.

Remember, choose before you chew baby.

I think this is the kind of attraction where most everybody, even fans, realize that there were good reasons to get rid of it -- outdated, unpopular, etc.. But we can still be nostalgic about it. Kabaret -- like the original "living with the land" song, Dreamfinder's JII, Cronkite and "Tomorrow's Child" on Spaceship Earth, the words "CommuniCore" -- is one of those things that immediately takes me back to childhood and my first visit to Epcot/WDW . . .

Edit: HA! What an appropriate login name to get my first post after . . .
