Saddly reporting Annette Funicello, passed on

Even though it was way before my time, I remember watching the original Mickey Mouse club back in the late 90s and early 2000s. I loved everything vintage Disney, and Annette was the true definition of beauty. She was the original Disney girl and held the standard even after she left, something the new girls have never done. I think it's sad that she was diagnosed with MS, but the class and elegance that she carried while she went through it is amazing and inspirational. May she rest in peace, and she will be missed.

I can remember watching the original MCC reruns in the 80's. Just a sad day to lose another legend. I listened to and interview on NPR today and she said always wanted to be a cowgirl. Bye Annette, happy trails.

Maybe this stuff could be shown on the Disney Channel instead of collecting dust in the Disney Vault.

I really, really agree with this. Look how many people here said that they had wached it in reruns (which means, by definition, it was during the time it was in syndication or on the Disney Channel, all of which time was when color television proliferated). Some argue that modern generations will never watch black and white shows. They will when they are good. There's a reason that this show is iconic, and Annette was a big part of that.

And personally I like the fact that the voice of Mickey in it's daily opening was that of Walt himself.
