Probably. I’m guessing that this scenario has something to do with the order Iraq recently placed for 1 million doses of an antidote for nerve gas.

Well I watching NBC and they interviewed some of our troupes and they said that they thought that this potential war would be over very quick. Isn't that the same thing they said about...hum...The Civil War, World War 1, Korea, and Vietnam?
Never underestimate your enemy that’s always our first mistake.

Well, apparently Sadam thinks things might be said and done rather quickly as well. He reportedly has been attempting to pay Libya to take him and his family in the event that he should for some unknown reason need to flee Iraq.

I think that our government is sort of going into this with the idea that his people don’t care for him much more than we do. I assume they know more about what is going on over there than I do but I can’t help but wonder if they know enough about what is going on to realize that it is their own government making their lives difficult and not the evil west. I guess we are going to find out, no?

The people over there seem to love him though.

I think they make a good job of making him look good in the media in Iraq.

For example, the news that the UN inspectors were returning got 3 lines on the inside pages of their papers.

And i think it started off with the calling the Western governments 'Evil'

I think he will try, but hopefully our intelligence knows where a lot of them are stored and can eliminate them early.

Didn't he threaten to use them a couple weeks ago? And isn't that an admission that he has them?

I wonder how fast he's producing the stuff and how much more of it he'll have next year than this.

Hmm, if we start sending groups of actors over there, they're going to get their kicked anyway.

The people over there love him because they are scared to hate him. If you did not know, there was a presidential (if that is what you want to call it) election in Iraq this year. Saddam won 99.8% of the vote. Guess who ran against him...no one. And guess what happened to the other .2% that didn't vote for him...dead. Unfortunately the people there don't get the oppurtunity to hate him.

But if you've ever seen the pictures of them dancing in the streets when he's about you've got to wonder how forced that is.

But i do agree with your point.

Thats why he had no opposition in his elections, anyone who speaks against him gets 'eliminated.'

I'm not sure if they love him because there scared or because their media is so heavily censored. You have a group of people who don't necessarily know what’s happening around the world because the media is controlled by the government. Of all we know when the president’s speeches are broadcasted over there Sadam might have the voice translated into "Kill Iraq... Destroy all Muslims...etc." it boggles the mind.

When the Today Show interviewed Iraq’s diplomat he was convinced beyond all shadow of a doubt that Sadam never ordered the gassing of the Curds.
