There was a great question someone asked on another board (SorcererRadio) which was :

What do you usually do on your last day in Disney World before you head to the airport or drive home?

For me, on my next trip in december I'm going to do a few epcot countries early in the morning then head to downtown disney for a quick shopping trip before eating a late lunch at Fultons Crab House. I love Fultons Crab House so at least it gives me something to look forward to on this sad day. After Fultons we are gonna head back to the resort to catch the shuttle to the airport.

If this day works out for me as well as it should (I got kinda depressed doing a full day of a park last time on my last day.. like I couldnt really enjoy it because I knew I was leaving in a few hours) then we will probably make the Downtown Disney/Fultons combo our new last day tradition.

Whats your last day tradition?

We usually go to Downtown Disney and have a nice lunch in Planet Hollywood, where all through lunch we beg to stay but always get turned down. Then we go to Orlando International Airport an hour earlier then we're supposed too, and buy frozen drinks from Starbucks and buy each of us a new book...

I cry....and think about how quickly the days passed lol...and beg my parents to move to orlando...LOL...Which usually gets me no where...But we go back 3 months later. I also waste all the money that i saved up the months before arrival the last day and buy a ton of Disney World Memorabilia...Also the day we check out of the resort we go to MK...and later come back to the hotel pick up our bags and and go back to reality

We usually hit epcot, or MGM in the morning, and Magic Kingdom before we leave. It's nice to have the MK be the last park we're at before we leave.

I go to MK in the morning, ride Buzz Lightyear until my thumb hurts, ride Space Mountain until I'm dizzy, and (most importantly) go for one last ride on the Carrousel.

I then walk through the castle (sniffle), eat lunch at Tony's and then stare at the castle and snap about a thousand pictures before the people I'm with have to drag me out of there, kicking and screaming (not a pleasant sight at my age).

We park hop. We hit the ride(s) and shops that each person wants to. We ALWAYS end in the MK. The Haunted Mansion is usually the last ride. When we leave the MK, I always stop and take last looks on Main Street, outside the Train Station, outside the gate... you get the idea. For me, leaving the MK is the worst part.
We have our last lunch in the food court at the ASM, then get on the bus for the airport. This is when we start planning our next trip! :sohappy:

Just wanted to remind you that World Showcase doesn't open till 11:00 a:m. Hate to see you go all the way to Epcot only to find out the countries are still closed.
Have a good trip!

Work out when I have to be at the airport and make a note to leave Disney one hour before that.

Last few trips, I have spent the last morning/afternoon chilling at Animal Kingdom, saying goodbye to the tigers and gorillas, one last safari and performances of FOLK and Tarzan plus a final visit to Flame Tree Barbecue.

This time I walked around DtD with seeping blisters on my feet, depessed the whole time because I love WDW and HATE home. :( Then we drive for 11 hours stoping at scary redneck truckstop gas stations and creepy rest areas.

Sleeping in just a little bit then hit DTD in the morning for some shopping. Lunch at the House of Blues before a little more shopping. Usually we head to the beach for a few days after that but this year we're just going to chill by the pool at the resort.

Once we've checked our bags at the lobby, we usually have until about 4pm and usually head to MGM, do a few rides, have a last Nestle Toll House Ice Cream Cookie :slurp: then back to the resort for a meal at the food court. Once I'm at the airport I am officially very depressed and hate everybody, then when the plane bumps onto the tarmac in the UK I'm pretty much suicidal

I'm answering from my last day in the parks - not our last day at Disney. Our last day in town it feels a lot less like Disney and a lot more like home - packing, loading, and driving. I consider myself already gone when I fall into to bed after our last park day.

So, last time we watched Illuminations and then went for a last monorail ride around the loop. It was a great end to a great vacation. Maybe we'll make it a tradition.

We do all our shopping and picture-taking on the last day... I hate carrying anything in the parks... backpacks, cameras, shopping bags, anything... So we wait until the very last day and do all of that carrying at the same time... Then after dropping all our stuff off, we head back to the parks and re-ride the favorites, which I imagine is what most people like to do before heading out :)

I resort hop on my last day sometimes. This past trip I was able to make it to 9 on my last day during my most recent trip. I visit their shops, restaurants, main buildings, tour the grounds, see what their pool area looks like. It's a full day all by itself.

We usually do AK, that way we can go back to resort, pack car and rest since we leave early to start back home. Although, our September trip will be different as it will be our daughters 23 birthday....so planned a two day trip home, instead of driving straight through.

I love resort hopping. A great way to spend an otherwise boring day.

On my last day I usually go to Downtown Disney for some shopping. That is, of course, on the rar occaision that I stay in a hotel instead of making a day trip.

on the last day of the trip, i usually walk around DTD (i actually did that a lot on my last trip), window shop because all my money is gone, find something to eat, go through the shops to make sure i didn't miss any type of souveneir.

ideally, i'd like to hit MK or Epcot on the last day...but we sually end up catching an early evening flight out. (think that will change on the next trip :D )

We generally try to finish in MK, or Epcot, taking in either Spectromagic or Reflections of Earth as the park is closing. The tears of joy and being moved by those powerful performances always seem to prevent the tears of sadness from coming. We like to buy books and music about WDW too, so that when we get home, we can still immerse ourselves in the parks, and start thinking of all the things that we need to see on our next trip. :) Of course, there's always the pleasure of looking forward to viewing all those photos we took!
