Thank you to all of those have been patient as I have asked many random questions of the last couple of months! I have another question. It may be a stupid question but I have never been to Disney so therefore, am a little clueless.
What exactly is Downtown Disney? We were planning to do MK one day alllll day on Tuesday and then Thursday check out Downtown Disney. Do we have to pay to enter Downtown Disney or not? Is it considered part of WDW or a separate thing? What is there to do for families that isn't too terribly expensive? thanks!

Places to shop and eat, different shops than those of the shops..some of the same merchandise and alot different. Major difference is it is free to walk around. We do this the first day there to break us into the Disney spirit!

Not much these days since all the clubs in Pleasure Island have been closed.

There are shops, a few places to eat DisneyQuest and the cirque du soleil.

Yeah, it's really just a well-themed shopping district. Free to enter and free to park (but parking can be a real bear).

Things to do (all of which cost money) include Disney Quest, Characters in Flight (the new tethered balloon ride), see a movie at the AMC Theater, or see La Nouba.

Other than that it's just shopping and dining. Unless you're going to do Disney Quest, or see at least one movie, I think you'd be hard pressed to spend an entire day there - but that's just me maybe others feel differently.

It's perfect if you have maybe half a day to kill. EG on the last day of my sister's recent visit, we took them there before they went to the airport for their afternoon flight home.

We usually find a one evening visit is sufficient at DTD - grab something to eat at one of the many restaurants then wander around the many shops.

DTD isn't really a full day experience unless you plan on eating several meals at TS restaurants, and are a hard core shopper. And even then its a bit of a stretch. At best we usually do 3 or 4 hours, and thats usually while killing time for dinner. Especially since much of the same merchandise is available elsewhere at WDW, it's not at all the time consumer as it used to be. And most of that is in the Marketplace side. Pleasure Island is pretty much empty now, Harley and Ragland Road are about it. West Side is mostly restaurants, movies and shows and some quick shops.

totally agree

We normally go the night before we hit the parks... to get in the spirit. We normally get desert at Chiradelli's and set and relax to enjoy the atmosphere.... We do all the shopping (penny machines are located in the world of disney store), Play with the Lego's (there is a lego store were kids can blow off some steam- they can create a car and race it down a track and it's free (you dont get to keep the legos though).... There is a Harley Davidson shop, sports shop, a place where you can make your own t-shirts and mickey ears, a place that has crystal and ou can watch the person make a wonderful creation, candy shop, christmas shop, pin trading store..... You can also rent the searacyers at the mariner but keep in mind you have to do it before they close and the weather is good. Hope that helps.. Ps parking is horeible! If you can take a resort bus I highly recomme:wave:nd it!
