Ryan Gosling/Zach Efron cast in next Star Wars movie?

I disagree with everyone saying that Gosling wouldn't be an excellent choice. After all, he's a real human being.

And a real hero.

Psh. That's nothing. I've just been offered the role of Jar Jar Binks' granddaughter Jam Jam Binks. She's going to have a highly central role, and will in fact, save the galaxy.

I think the fans will love this almost as much as the new dvd/blu ray releases of the film!

Gosling isn't very "manly" though. He's a "pretty" Hollywood guy. And most of his roles reflect that. I just don't see people saying "yeah I want to be that guy" with Gosling in that seat the way Ford made Han Solo and Indiana Jones look cool. You have to have that rough around the edges look. Gosling looks too polished.

And you should really see the movies. Or at least the original 3. Han is definitely no Jedi, which is why we love him ;)
I did see the movies, but not numerous times like many on this board. Have you seen gangster squad? Gosling is pretty cool in that.

However people seem to agree with you on this and I'm not really in a position to judge (seen the movies once). I just wouldn't be bothered if he was cast or not :)

I, like others, have to agree that Efron seems like a strange choice but I also think that Gosling could fit well depending on the character he was playing. It is tough however (at least for me) to say that one or both would be incompatible with the Star Wars universe or this movie in particular without knowing plot or character details.

Being that it is being helmed by Abrams I have faith.

Is there really any truth to these rumours or is this just a case of one website trying to use SEO by having Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron AND Star Wars in the same article and bandwagon jumping by other media outlets?

I also heard Kristen Stewart is playing Princess Laya (Excuse my spelling and if she isn't in the new movie, calm down. It's a joke).

Not a star wars fan, but Zach Efron? I could do better casting than that.

Actually, I think they should turn this over to the fans. Anyone remember Usenet and the knock-down, drag-out fights they used to have on casting X-Men (I'm talking 20+ years ago)? Overall, consensus in accurate casting for almost all major roles was very accurate.

Sometimes character casting is a no-brainer. But many times Hollywood doesn't really think. Well, probably they have other criteria than we might. We had enough young angst with Hayden C. - I don't want ANY of today's crop of typical young actors. Instead of Ryan and Zac, I'd even prefer Jay and Silent Bob.
