FYI, we have a regular Star Wars thread where you can post additional stuff not related to the original story -It was also announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan that Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2!
I know that you're joking, but some of you focus way too much on the cost of things. Also haven't you been told to calm down on the jokes that border on trolling? There goes another 300M![]()

Ever since 1977, Star Wars has been a franchise with recognizable aesthetics: The distinctive hum of a lightsaber. Rusty armor and billowing capes on the costumes. The iconic Millennium Falcon. Geo…variety.com

Production costs and box office really only matter to those that make the films. It doesn't affect us the consumer one bit. Go back 15-20 years and no one talked about it at all. They only talked about if a movie was good or not, and most found films not during theatrical but in post-theatrical such as at a video rental place. You're right. It shouldn't matter how much a movie costs. The important thing is Disney makes the movies they want to make.
And the fact is, Disney has and will make the movies they want to make no matter the costs or ROI and nothing posted on these boards will change that.
When I watch older "the making of" movie documentaries it was ALWAYS about costs and keeping costs down. Every single documentary talked about costs. I found it fascinating how the BEST scenes came about because they could not afford to do what they intended to do, or could not spend the money for reshoots.Go back 15-20 years and no one talked about it at all.
There are many who are facing SW fatigue in recent years but still love the brand.I was at a grocery store recently, and someone working there told me that they didn't like Star Wars. Didn't say anything but I was thinking, How can you not like Star Wars?????
Of course they talk about budgets in the “making of” documentaries, go back to what I said “Production costs and box office really only matter to those that make the films”. So of course the people making the movie are going to talk about the budget. What you quoted was me talking about the audience, audiences 15-20 years ago didn’t think twice about a budget, most didn’t even know what the budget was for a film, heck most still don’t today. When I watch older "the making of" movie documentaries it was ALWAYS about costs and keeping costs down. This one example is more than 20 years ago, but in the original Rocky film, the iconic scene where Rocky and Adrian are in the ice rink, it was supposed to be during operating hours full of people skating, of course they didn't have the money and Stallone came up with this perfect scene for almost no money.
There are many, many examples from the old days.
In my opinion, today it seems to me, there is no control on costs.
I'm so happy that you didn't use your lightsaber on him.
People are different. If he's basing it on modern Star Wars though I understand. I've only liked Mandalorian's first 2 seasons. I'm a harsh critic though, I don't even like the prequel trilogy.
Too early to tell if either of those things come about.I really like this. Also, thank goodness they didn't try and make Ryan a jedi and take away his on screen personality
He can do both and do both well. But I would hope for a franchise that desperately needs more personality they don't go that routeToo early to tell if either of those things come about.
He was pretty emotionally stoic in DRIVE and that movie was awesome.
Budget was talked about when it was a story. I remember budget was talked about a ton with Titanic. Also pirates dead mans chest got a good amount of budget talk as well as John carter. I think the difference is, most films weren't coming out with massive budgets then so it was more of an outlier. Now, so many films come out at 170 to 250 mil budget. It's to the point where we see A $150mil budget and say, wow a reasonable budget! LolWhat you quoted was me talking about the audience, audiences 15-20 years ago didn’t think twice about a budget, most didn’t even know what the budget was for a film, heck most still don’t today.
I actually prefer the older Star Wars movies, 4, 5, and 6 personally. I did also enjoy Rogue One. I tried to get into the Mandalorian, but honestly it really wasn't my cup of tea to be honest. I heard they're in the process of making another one. Different strokes, different folks! If I'm not mistaken, I did hear an interview somewhere with Seth Rogan when he was on the set of the Fablemans. Sorry, it was not about Star Wars but movie filming in general. I believe Spielberg had relayed to him that he used an Iphone previously for a music video he had filmed called Cannibal.I'm so happy that you didn't use your lightsaber on him.

I don’t know how much it actually bled into the public consciousness back then though. Sure it was talked about in terms of a “news” story, but it wasn’t something that I bet the average movie goer even knew about, which was the point I was trying to make.Budget was talked about when it was a story. The budget was only discussed back then when the film had one of the largest production budgets ever such as Waterworld or Titanic…. The average filmgoer only cared about if they thought the film was good or not…. Simpler timesI don’t know how much it actually bled into the public consciousness back then though.
