Running in a kilt

Has anyone ever done it? I have been contemplating getting something from here -> http://www.sportkilt.com/index.php or somewhere similar to run the Princess in, but wanted to see if anyone had any opinions on this? Heck, if I am gonna be one of a handful of guys there, I might as well at least have fun with it, right?

Well, the twig and berries would get hot with nice ventilation. :D

Wait, can men run the princess. I thought it was just a female race. At least that was my understanding, but I can see where men could run it, but they would be in a huge minority.

The race is geared towards women, but men will not be excluded, they even have a section to register for co-ed teams, but I think you are correct in saying men will be in the minority.

To the OP...it says the sports kilt was made for relaxing AFTER competition. I am not a runner, but I do know from wearing skirts/dresses that you can chafe in warm weather so I cannot imagine running in something that allows your thighs to rub together constantly will be very comfortable during and especially after the run... if ya know what I mean :lookaroun

I do know what you mean. And I chafe anyways so yeah, BodyGlide is my friend. And as tempting as it may sound to some, I wouldn't be airing stuff out to dry if you catch my drift.

I missed the part after AFTER competition. I know some people do it as there are kilt runs out there, I just don't know what they wear, or how it would feel after 13.1 miles.

I just don't know if I can pull off a tutu or fairy wings. Not to mention, I could wear a kilt again, but the wife would never let me wear a tutu or wings in public.

To phonedave, they do let men run, but I think last years results had like 500 men in the entire field. Heck, I think there were that many in my age group alone during the normal half. ; )

From the 2010 results (I'm looking an the individual results only):

10936 female finishers
423 male finishers

That's a ratio of almost 26:1. :D

I, for one, love the idea and think it would be a real hoot and keep with the spirit of the day! Go for it!

Most definitely! When I tell friends and family that we hit the Disney Parks commando style, that's not exactly what I mean! :ROFLOL:
*snickers*

I would definitely wear some sort of under garment. My luck, I would have to receive medical attention during the race and they would want me to lie on my back and then raise a leg or something.

This whole thread has me laughing...the mental picture of somebody jogging in a kilt is just too funny.

Oh, man, please where some sort of undergarment with that kilt. You don't want to be starting fires between the thighs at a decent pace. Will you be taking haggas with you?!
