My physical therapist doesn't want me to do all three events. She says I am not ready. I injured my medial meniscus (minor tear) on Oct. 28th and I feel good. I have not been training it hard though because I wanted it to heal. Her rules are a day off between each run. I told her the five of us in the family are walking the 5K just for fun. Myself and my two daughters are doing 10K which will be a walk/run as well because of my oldest daughter's weight and plantar fasciitis. I am the only one registered for the half. I plan to run/walk as much as my knee allows. I am not looking at my time at all. I just want to try. I am ok with getting swept if it comes to that. She would like me to not do the half at all. I guess I will see how I feel after walking around the parks for 4 days as well.

There's a tent right after the finish line if you need to wrap your knee with ice. I've seen many a runner hobble there first, then get their medal and photo with knees & ankles encased in an ice wrap.

For those who this will be their first runDisney race, they will be handing out cooling towels at the end of the Half and hopefully the 10k also. They are nice Dr. Cool towels. Don't throw them away. Keep them and use them in the parks.

Just curious since this is my first race, are the busses all set and ready to go if you need to jump on one right after finishing?

Yes. Once you've gotten your medal, you'll be directed to get your snack box, have your picture taken, pick up your gear bag and then over to the buses. Just look for the number and color designating your resort.

Has anyone ever taken an Uber straight to the MK lot? I want to do this from my hotel (on property but no shuttle) and avoid the whole walk to the bus at Epcot and save a few mins. I’m just not sure if they’ll allow the car into the area or not.

Probably not. There will be volunteers and officers directing traffic. If you are staying on property, there should be a shuttle. What resort are you at?

Staying at the WA Bonnet Creek and they said they only run the shuttle for the half marathon.

Ugh so annoying adds so much time for no reason lol.

The shuttle bus drop off area gets crowded race morning. You don't need Uber drivers mingling with large charter buses dropping off thousands of runners at 4AM.

What if you took Uber to the closest Disney resort? Then picked up a shuttle from there? You are going to have to walk over to the Epcot bus depot to get back to your resort after the race. Only shuttle buses will be allowed at the finish line.

I’ve thought about that but I’ll probably just go to Epcot in the morning and deal with the bus. I have my wife come pick me up at the end of the run. Much easier than dealing with the buses.

Just make sure to get your Uber driver early enough to allow sufficient time for him to get to your resort and then to Epcot.

They’re not allowing drop off at TTC this year (for whatever reason, they allowed it for W&D). I wouldn’t even attempt to get dropped off over there, there’s no established area for it and you might risk the chance of being disqualified. I’d either get dropped if at Epcot or at a resort.

Did I read on the ice thread that you’re also T1D? I was diagnosed 8 years ago so it was a late onset for me, but it’s so nice to meet another runner with a faulty pancreas. 😊

Yes, I am. I'm on year 32 with it. Got it when I was 8. Started with the big needles and it taking 2 minutes to test your blood sugar. My parents used to bring a food scale where ever we went to exactly measure out what I could eat. Now, I run with the pump bouncing around in my pocket. Nice to meet you as well. If you see a runner passed out on the side of the Star Wars 10K, thats probably me!!!

Wow, it’s amazing how far medicine/technology have come. You and your parents are rockstars! And you’ll be completely fine during the 10K - you got this!

It's cold. Please stay.
That’s true, but I already ran a rainy half this year and feel like I met my quota, lol!

Okay, but how about at least no rain on Saturday afternoon during the kids races. I bought my girl a cute little Star Wars dress just for the occasion. 😊
