Right! With all the crowing about how D+ is on the cusp of profitability I have to remind that they have spent 8B+ to date to get this established so please save the profitability talk until it generates that money back and covers it's cost at the same time.

That’s fine, but this of talk completely ignores that the service itself is an asset with its own value. Eg Hulu was valued at $27.5B in the recent sale.

Or to put into a different prospective, if Disney were to go and build a brand new park for $1.5B or whatever, you wouldn’t just dismiss it as being worthless until it makes that amount in total profit. Because the park itself has value as an asset.

Exactly what DoctorNick says. You can normalize during the exact same timeframe Disney paid out 16 billion for Hulu.

D+ is a massively successful service, that now owns heaps of its own content (to its benefit and in some ways the detriment of some other arms of the company). Though for every movie it may have dragged down we probably have a piece of Grogu merch that isn’t exactly attributed to the D+ equation.

8 billion was a great deal and speaks to the value of actually creating things internally and not just acquiring them. A strategy ‘supposedly’ the fans have always wanted out of Iger, but clearly are hypocritical when they evaluate it on the other end.
