I just heard from someone that has a sister that lives and works Magnolia, Texas and he told me that they are re-considering Texas Disney World. It is supposed to opened in 2012. Anyone else heard anything like this ???

I know I know it is wishful thinking..See we are planning to take our daughter to Disney when she is 5..and the WHOLE family wants to go..that will be a LONG week if EVERYONE goes so it would be really nice if that was true..we could all go to the one in Texas and then the family wouldn't feel left out and then my hubby and I can take her to Florida..ha ha ha..oh well..

lol...sigh.

double sigh

Here we go again. Please do a search, not only on WDW Texas, but WDW Missouri. This was just discussed...ad nauseum...recently and was exposed as a hoax cooked up by a group of developers. Many people, including newspapers, were taken in by it.

Unless someone can come up with any official documentation (announcements by WDW, permits pulled in their name, definite links to the company, etc) I think most of us will consider this another hoax.

I recall a similar hoax in Oklahoma once, like Texas and Missouri it was just a scam by some developers that had land of little value in the middle of no where that new they could find people dumb enough and greedy enough to buy the worthless land at a worthwhile price making them money. Considering how Walt managed to buy as much land as he did in Florida before people figured it out, and considering how much prices went up once people did figure it out; I'm pretty sure Disney will be very secretive if they ever decide to build a park in midwest and you wont know it until they make an official announcement...

And from a logical standpoint, why would disney ever build a park in the midwest or texas? Parks need good weather year round and you can't find that anywhere in the US except Florida and California. If I were a betting man I'ld put my money on the next disney park being built somewhere in South America. You can find cheap land, cheap labor, good weather and the South Americans as a whole like Disney.

Yeah, I hear about it every 4-6 weeks.

I heard Disney was taking over the Mall of America.

No really, my brother in-laws aunt cuts the hair of a guy whose best friend has a dog that poops in the same park as a Disney Store clerks dog who says it's true.......................the dog that is....................

Market size aside, the only problem would be...political instability...but if a park would be built in South America it would be cool. Maybe in Brazil?

No, lets not start Disney Brazil rumor threads. :lookaroun

Yeah Brazil would be the most logical... but I didn't see any point in starting those rumor... So don't tell anyone that Disney's been buying land near Maceió... I won't want to start any rumors :lookaroun

Actually, some of the rumor started because some designers (maybe official imagineers or ex-employees?) had a role in designing the current incarnation of Space Center Houston (formerly only known as Johnson Space Center).

When this went on, the rumors started flying around the Houston area...

There are numerous websites about this, and the Virginia idea too.

It was all speculated anywhere from Angleton (South of Houston), to San Antonio, to the Magnolia area in Texas... and most recently at a place somewhere equidistant between San Antonio/Houston/Dallas... with a supposed "bullet train" like Europe and Japan have to transport people in under 90 minutes to a half hour from the major aero puertos in Tejas.

Sounds like a "plus it" when you look at it... But even Walt never had designs on Texas.

Why do that? To detract from the World, much less, the Land?
