Rumor Rumor: No Payment Plans for Florida Residents APs.

It's all about revenue recognition without monthly billing the revenue for the AP is recognized fully as soon as the sale is complete. With monthly billing the revenue for the sale is recognized over 12 months and in many cases 2 fiscal years. There is a minor cost savings here as well

Once again this is about financial engineering to make WDW's numbers look better.

As to FL residents who depended on this to make their AP's work well Disney is done with you TDO thinks they don't need you anymore so Disney is doing the latest B-school thing 'Firing less profitable customers' yes it's a thing google it.

Just another reason I'm glad I'm a critic and no longer giving Disney money.

Meanwhile UNI does monthly AP payments for anyone willing to pay not just FL residents. Who wants your repeat Business hint it's not Disney
UNI is giving three months free with AP.

Then why don’t you label it as a question? Instead of rumor? I’m sorry but it’s clickbait here move it to general and use this title “AP MONTHLY PAYMENT Question” and bam thread fixed.
Disney could be playing chicken with AP’s and seeing if people will pay the full amount. If it fails, “ Back by popular demand”!!!

Apparently you don't understand how revenue is recognized. This would have zero to do with revenue recognition. If this were a financial decision, it would indicate that they were thinking about cash flow, not revenue recognition.

I have a very good grasp on how revenue is recognized. And its revenue recognition thats driving decisions like this another example is the non-expiring ticket going the way of the Dodo bird.

But however you slice it its financial engineering trumping customer experience and satisfaction which has become SOP at Disney of late.

It will be a subzero day in hell before Disney gets any of my money again.

Apparently not, because revenue needs to be recognized over time for things like an annual pass.

The truth is these payment plans allow them to more easily raise prices. If you’re paying the whole thing upfront you’re a lot more conscientious of the price, however an extra $2-$5 a month might not seem like a big deal.

I think ya'll are wrong about UNI's AP's. We just got ours a couple of weeks ago and we are FL residents and had the option of a monthly payment plan. However you pay you still get the 15 months (3 FREE) for the price of 12. Only difference in the UNI passes versus our Disney AP's is UNI wanted a lot more $$$ up front for the payment plan.

The Florida visitors are definitely not something they are concerned with. They don't spend the money that an out of town guest spends. If this rumor is true, which I doubt, it will cause them little loss in the long run. If you're a local, you need to realize this as fact. You do not matter to them as much as someone who is stuck in the bubble

while getting guests into the bubble should always, rightly, be a priority...
wdw is a very large place and you don't sell tickets like gift cards at grocery stores to people you're unconcerned with.

If this is true, it might not be about wanting to thin about the crowds. They might just want to get out of the business of running payment plans

I know several locals with AP's and for the most part they visit several times a week to eat, drink, golf and occasionally buy merch. They also bring their family members with them when they are in town. I would figure that if a local person or couple visits minimum once a week to eat and have a few drinks, it would definitely add up over the course of a year. Thats 50+ meals and booze per person which is more than the average guest would eat/drink over a 7 day stay. Add in the additional sales the locals bring to the 47 festivals that Epcot has per year and its a pretty good chunk of change.

I am sure there are locals with AP's that dont spend much and mostly go to ride a few rides, but there are also many out of town visitors that do as much as they can to limit spending as well, i.e bringing groceries and eating off property. Just my take on it. I have no idea what the actual numbers are.

So if Disney got rid of monthly payments, i would simply pay with a credit card and pay off over the course of the year. Yes in going to pay interest but I would consider that part of the cost of this non essential hobby.

A local with an AP that goes frequently isn't normally spending the whole day riding every ride they can and sucking up capacity. I'm not even that close (south Florida). I have an AP and when I go, I typically ride maybe 4-5 rides, sometimes less. What I do always do is eat something. I assume that food sales are high profit margin. I also buy merchandise throughout the year.

I'm sure there are some exceptions, but after riding a ride 100 times, it isn't all that spectacular anymore. I'm not going to wait on standby for more than 35 minutes for any ride that I've been on over 100 times in my life. I have an AP so that I can have a short "escape" getaway without thinking much about the expense. WDW is far enough from my house to get a little break from reality but close enough that it is reasonable to drive to and only spend a day or two.

SWING and a miss (again)...

But seriously, you have zero clue what you're actually talking about. You're way out of your depth here, yet you spew this stuff so confidently... but your reputation precedes you, which means you're probably just giving intentional misinformation again.
How So?

WDW wants all the money up front. This allow for 12 months benefit from TVM.
