Rude people on scooters?

This thread reminds me of the last trip I had and my wife got hit really hard on her heel. I was prepared for minor cuts and scraps with my backpackers first aid kit, but man! She got cut so bad, that I could see the meat, not just skin.

I was about to give the lady driving the scooter a real "blessing" and she started yelling something in Italian... when I figured out she was foreigner, I just dropped it. I mean what's to point in yelling at someone if they don't understand you. So, I motioned for the lady to go by (more like go away). But the biggest frustration is that the lady didn't seem apologetic, I mean she was mad at my wife and my dw was the victim here!! Manners any one?

My only concern with scooters and those huge strollers is when people are rude and don't apologize. If it's a minor bump, I let it go, but when the lady bowled me over and didn't apologize because she was on the phone, that burns me. She also saw me crying and kept going, but hey....

It's a matter of respecting the other people in the area around your cart. Also, much like driving, please stop your scooter before trying to look around and talk at the same time.

I agree that people should apologize when they run into you.

I have to use a scooter and I can't tell you how many time people act like I am invisible. It isn't just people on scooter who have no manners. I can't tell you how many times I got cut off from my family because people would just plow in my way and I didn't want to be rude and just bump into them.

In regards to at the resorts, At times I am unable to walk long distances and need the scooter to get around the resort. If I didn't have it at the resort I would be stuck in my room. Why should I miss out on the fun because people can't have patience and wait on a scooter at a resort? I wish I didn't need a scooter. I would give anything not to have my illness and I wouldn't wish someone truly needing a scooter on my worst enemy. It's not fun

If I accidentally run into someone I do apologize. If other people don't then that is just horrible manners and they need some lessons.

She should have apologized. She has no manners and no heart if she kept going when you were hurt and clearly upset about it. That bugs me some people need manner training

Just back from WDW. Didn't expect quite so many unhappy / rude people in such a happy place. I got ran into from behind 3 times by scooters (one time hurt pretty good and brought blood) and never once heard an "oh excuse me" or "I'm sorry". I guess people can get upset I don't walk as fast as some but I have a bad knee (retired me from the ARMY). I couldn't believe the people in scooters who would be in a mob of people (say just after rope drop) and would start beeping to try to get ahead to get that fastpass.

I may be in a scooter by our next trip...... but that will not give me the excuse to be rude to others.

Also, anyone else notice the people in scooters who get brought to the front of a ride line and then get out and practically run from that point on?

I guess this could be a touchy subject (political correctness and all), but really just wondering if others experienced this.

I have to agree - that my family's biggest complaint last year. We would be waiting at the bus stops in the morning for 20+ min (sometimes waiting for the 2nd bus because the 1st had already filled) and someone would pull up as the bus approached and still be put on 1st. And while we did get used to it, I was very surprised that never once did the scooter operator or their family ever say "we'll wait ALL these people were ahead of us."

I have said this before, that others were first but the bus drivers always say it is their policy to put scooters on first. I'm in a scooter at time at Disney and I agree that we should wait in line like the others at the bus stop

Threads like this never end well. At the end of the day there are rude people everywhere and they don't need a scooter to be that way. It just happens that Disney World brings a lot of different people together in the same place and we happen to notice it more. People should have common courtesy to say excuse me or I'm sorry whether they are on a scooter or not. I would venture to say that most people do have that courtesy, but all it takes is one or two not to and it will stick in your mind.
