rude parks guests

I have no problem if one or two family members have to leave a line for a potty break or to get a cold drink of water on a very hot day and then comes right back. Thats understandable.

What I DO have a problem with is when one person stands in line, gets almost to the front, then his 5 other family members join him with ice cream and cold icy drinks in their hands.

If I have to stand in a long, hot, smelly line for hours, so should everyone else.

This goes on alot before parades and Illuminations where one family memember trys to hold good spots for 6 people while the 6 people are out shopping, in air conditioned gifts shops, or drinking watermelon soda in Ice Station Cool.

Again..if I have to stand in one spot for an hour and a half to get a good view of something , then so should everyone else.

::In my best Tom Hanks/Forest Gump voice:: And thats all I have to say about thaaat.:p

I apologize for yelling at you. After what I paid I needed to vent on someone and you looked like you needed a reality check.

When do the rude teenagers come from the rich coffee hills of that fantastically beautiful and otherwise wonderful country of Brazil?

Actually, yeah, saving places in lines is a common thing here in Brazil, such as movie lines and stuff. It's not pretty though, and I'd never try it while at WDW.
Summing up, I apologize to you, Shoes, on behalf of my rude compatriots, but as I've stated here before, 80% of the WDW Brazilian Guests are 14 to 17 year old kids who just don't speak English or barely nderstand it and who don't get any kind of preparation prior to visiting another country and another culture (that's a good way of saying they're foul-mouthed no-good spoiled mama's babies who've been away from her sight for the first time in years...)

I certainly don't want to come of as rude, snotty, or indulge in stereotypes. Because of their high visibility, the Brazilian teen groups are (perhaps) unfairly singled out as the epitome of rudeness. In fact, I was guilty of using them as a "shorthand" terms for all kinds of line cutting behaviors.

What MKCustodial said puts it into perspective--these kids are NOT properly perpared for these trips by the tour guides they have paid big bucks to.

If I were going on a foreign vacation, I would hope that somewhere along the way I got some basic information about local customs. (One that immediately pops into mind is that the ubiquitous American "thumbs up" gesture, which means "everything is great, fine, wonderful" is, in most other parts of the world, considered obscene. So before I go to, say, Manila, I would hope that somehow I would find out that I shouldn't use that gesture.)

The tour guides, then, are guilty of not getting these kids some basic information about American line etiquette, most specifically that holding places in line is not allowed.

Again, apologies for stooping to stereotypes.

Thanks. I really do not care where they come from I just get a little nervous around large groups of teens. So much noise and energy sudden jerky movements, the occasional thrown object. The lifting of one girl, the scream, the fall back, ouch on my foot, oh sorry mister, see what you did. back to sudden jerky movements and loud loud talking and occasiaonal bad singing near my ear in a faux rock echo chamber theme line. Old at 39

Actually, I believe our busiest season is July, when it's cold down here and hot up there. But I don't think WDW will be seeing as much of them as it used to, not with the world economy the way it is right now...

No offense taken, Shoes. As a matter of fact, during my International CP time, I did not wear a Brazilian flag on my tag, and I used to hide around corners whenever I spotted a big group coming. I also understand how the great majority can be a REAL pain in the behind, and the stereotype is there, there's no going around it. I guess it's the same as the dreaded "cheerleader" season...

I'm sorry, I am one of those people who holds a spot for a parade. I would much rather have my kids run around in the air conditioned store than have to listen to them whine about how hot it is. The way I figure it, it I am willing to get there early and sit on the blistering sidewalk in order to save a space, so can everyone else. When it starts to get crowded, I do look behind us and see if there are any small kids who want to trade places with me (so they can see)

Come find me and I will let you sit with us

ok here are situation I think are ok...
you are in line alone or with someone and lets say drop you camera and have to pick it up while moving slightly out of line ... you don't go anywhere you are just picking something up...

Or
you are with your group in line and lets say a child has to go to the bathroom or you want to throw you gum in the garbage or throw out you coke bottle or something ... if you are quick then I think it should be ok so long at the rest of your group hasn't signifigantly moved... like they are already loading on the ride or something

It is not ok to leave the line for a few minutes to go do something (or go to the bathroom when you are alone) and expect people to let you back in line

the important things are 1,is there anyone else in your party in the line, 2,how many people are joining this line (no way 1 person should hold a spot for like 30 people... i don't care if they had to go to the bathroom or not) 3,how long will you be out of the line

Everyone make a lot of good points..I have to agree that 1 if you are alone and leave thats out. But if I am the person behind them and they ask me if its Ok and they are nice I don't have a problem letting them back in or even if everyone is on line and 1 or 2 want to run for a drink or a Mickey ice cream thats ok me me also. It is the ones like everyone said there is 1 family member waiting and here come all the kids and relatives looking for mom..that BUGS me!

That's crazy talk, man.

I don't have a problem if a father/mother whoever is in front of me and when the time comes the kids enter the line -- as long as it is done in an orderly fashion. They would have been there anyway. So what if I had to wait in line, I certainly don't think that just because I had to suffer because I didn't have someone to hold my spot everyone should have to suffer.

But it has only rarely happened to me as I make use of FastPass.

But I will also say, as a matter of etiquette here, holding places in line is considered very rude, and I do not hold places in line for people because of this. Because this is protocol, not because "I had to wait so you do too".

I feared for those loud crowds during late December and January. In July and August, they weren´t that noticeable. Maybe because the heat was the unbearable one then! :animwink:

I agree with this 100%. If someone in front of me is considerate enough to ask if I would mind if somone (or a few) stepped out due to bladder overflow, or to get a needed drink of soda or water, I don't have a problem with that. I feel that if they were courteous enough to ask, I can be courteous right back.

LOVECRAFT: I resent you saying that what I had to say was "Crazy Talk". I have just as much right to express my opinoins on these boards as anyone else.

GUCCI65: I taught my children at an early age that "Whining" is not acceptable behavior. They know that if they whine, they will not be able to watch the show and will be taken straight back to the resort. They know the rules and follow them. I control my children, they don't control me.

I stand by my original statement that holding several places before a show or a parade for long periods of time is wrong.
It doesn't allow people who are willing to stand for a long time to get a good spot to do so and is in fact HOARDING space while their family members frolic in the parks elsewhere. My 3 children and I stood for a hour and a half so we could have a good place to watch the parades and Illuminations. None of my children complained with the exception of the standard "How much longer Daddy?" We played games and did some great family bonding while waiting.

This wasn't in Disney, but whatever. I was in line for Waterworld at US Cali, and this guy wasn't exactly rude, but he got annoying. I was wearing my Spider-Man shirt(because of the show's grand opening...man...terrible...show...), and the guy was like "HEY YOU'RE PETER PARKER!"(loud enough for everyone to look). I nearly turned as red as my shirt. I replied with a Yes. "NO WAY PETER PARKER HAS GLASSES". I sighed. "When I got my powers I took off my glasses" I said. Some kid came up to me saying "YOU'RE NOT SPIDER-MAN!". Oh boy.
