Royal Pacific vs Hard Rock

Hubby and I are planning our annual "kidless" trip in June ( he will be at Busch Gardens resident camp) and are going to give Royal Pacific a try for the first time. We have stayed at HRH at least a dozen times- it is our absolute favorite hotel, but I thought it was time to try something new. How do the two compare?

Royal Pacific is pretty dang wonderful! It has a completely different vibe than HardRock. Royal Pacific truly feels like an Island getaway. When you are inside, and in the courtyards you just feel like you have escaped.

If you are looking for a true "escape" then RP is your hotel.

I'm also considering which Uni hotel to stay at in December. Which one is most convenient as far as getting to the parks? I know they have some kind of boat/ shuttle service. I'm interested to hear about walking from hotel to park in the morning.

All the hotels offer boat service. (Though when Cabana Beach opens it will NOT have boat service)

The HardRock hotel is closes. And if you want to get to the parks quicker you can always hire a pedicab to take you on the walking paths.

Thanks for the help. As it stands now, I'm going to check in at Uni on the 5th, go to the parks on the 6th, and check out and move over to Disney on the 7th. I'm an early riser on vacation, so a nice walk on my way to early HP entry time will be nice.

Stayed at both, and I prefer Royal Pacific. It is beautifully themed. Hard Rock is better for food choices, and I prefer the pool there. Rooms are slightly larger at Hard Rock, but the decor is very plain and boring (IMO).

Royal Pacific is the closest to IOA and it's walk is really tranquil and nice.
Is there direct access to the park for resort guests, or would I still have to go in through the main entrance near CityWalk? I do intend to start off on IoA side, since I would get the early in to Potter land.

The Walk from HRH is 5 minutes tops- the walkway is beautiful and serene. Pedicab on the way back- make sure you have cash, those guys work for tips alone. They are awesome!

After staying the last several years at the Hard Rock Hotel, we booked the Royal Pacific for this summers trip. While we still love the HR Hotel, we simply hate their restaurants. We have never been fans of the "Kitchen" and the "Palm" is just so over priced. We believe that Emeril's Tchoup Chop is not only the best of Universals Restaurants, but best in the Orlando area (and not too pricey). After positive feedback from this forum, we are now looking forward to the RP's Wantilan Luau also. The fact that the Royal Pacific was actually cheaper than the Hard Rock didn't factor into our decision, but we'll reap the benefits.

I love the Hard Rock. But I think its since its both you and your husband the scenery and atmosphere is more for you two. But if the walking distance to Citywalk and the parks is important to you, the walk from Royal is longer. You could always take the water taxi :)
