Or perhaps he just got his pharmacy bill? ;)

Seriously, since he apparently has no heirs, it MAY be (purely speculation on my part) that he wishes to donate a lot of money to a cause (or several) that would prefer cash rather than stock, and who need the money now, rather than later.

Or maybe he has plans to start a completely different business.

Or he's getting senile, and just wants take it with him.

Or maybe he knows something we don't know. ;)

Hmmm. All I know is that this has potential to be huge news.

He has been the true guiding force of the company for many years.

No heirs? Did something happen to his kids? All four of them? And their kids?

Maybe he wants to break up his stake of the company so that no single "heir" could easily accumulate the amount of influence he has held. (If that makes any sense) Or would a capital gains taxation cost him less than the estate tax?

That's a great play. Kaufman and Hart, I believe.

VERY GOOD BAGHEERA!
:sohappy:

Incidentally, we did the play in High School.
A few years later, I had the pleasure of doing a Staged Reading of it for Charity with the late Moss Hart's wife, Kitty Carlysle-Hart, who was the head of the NY State Council on the Arts for a few terms. Folks may remember Her from the old "Truth-or-Consequences" and "What's My Line" game shows....

A delightfully charming woman, and a very funny play!

Well, his son Roy Patrick was just in the news with his investment company purchasing the Neptune Society cremation company, so he's still kicking... :lookaroun
