ROTR has really changed my mind about SWGE.

MGM is still an under-equipped park...a problem since day 1.

To say that Disney “doesn’t” have to do anything in that park is not based in reality. 3 of their 4 parks still need more to be enjoyable in the future.

Don’t shut any doors on your own fingers
I just think Disney can and should do something more ambitious than just adding a thrill ride, their attractions can do more than that and frankly the park still needs more things the whole family can do together.

I still think it’s criminal that for 33 years Disney has not built a Star Wars based ride that is NOT more gravity based than a simulator...

It’s always been headscratching.

What’s next? Trying to make Star Wars movies that actively crap on the original formula that worked?? 😳
Before the star wars overlay for space mountain at Disneyland, when riding space mountain here at wdw, I always thought how cool it would be to do this to a star wars theme. Is it the immersion they are looking for in GE? No, but my imagination can make up for lack of immersion. Look at Hagrids, that worked for harry potter land.

Disney has learned over the years that they do need to offer balance...

Are you gonna boycott the tron ride?

Of course not...it’s a great ride.

How many simulators do we need on I-4 or I-5?

I know the DL purists Complain...but hyperspace mountain is great. And that’s a rickety, awful old coaster.

OT characters and music...it just works. You can laugh the whole ride.

Giving the people what they want this completely oddball, off the map idea that I hope one day occurs do the management of the IP

No I’m not boycotting and I mean that’s an example of a thrill ride being added somewhere else on property. My argument was that galaxys edge didn’t necessarily need one and if anything studios needed more family attractions.

More family friendly attractions I agree with. I just think for the biggest IP land that Disney has, a coaster or some thrill ride is warranted. I'm not even saying rnr type, even something like slinky or thunder mountain thrill.. or sdmt but longer.

MGM needs more of EVERYTHING.

And after the great movie Mickey opens...they’ll have a solid block of noting but nonsense from muppetvision all the way to the sunset boulevard fruit stand...

It’s just lacking across the board...still

This ride showed me that Disney wanted you to really live out your star wars adventure on Galaxy's Edge. So everything needs to be immersive. That's cool, but I think because of that, we won't be seeing any coasters anytime soon. This land needs that thrill ride for the average non star wars fan guests.
Honest question... why would a land themed around Star Wars need to cater to people who don't like Star Wars? I can see if you were saying that Hollywood Studios needed an additional roller coaster or other thrill ride. But why is Galaxy's Edge not sufficient as is?

What they built doesn’t really cater too Star Wars...it’s been argued.

The truth is somewhere in the middle.

They said they were building a “new story experience”...but they punted. Lots of nondescript, boutique gift shops and open spaces. It’s too obvious to sell niche souvenirs and crowd control NOT by depth of draws.

And they built one force awakens ride and one solo ride...well done, not close to the resonance of the originals

Classic Star Wars fans...have always wanted a Star Wars thrill.

Disney apologist Dismiss US as not being relevant as compared to the future. Ironic defense of a company that repackages everything to sell again on a repeat cycle, huh?

But the last two years - in particular - have proven the classic fans are still not to be messed with. I’m in my forties...I have the MONEY! And generation wealth is in decline as we move forward.

Giving the old Star Wars fans what they want is this crazy concept that is damn near guaranteed to work.

The fans broke Lucas...Disney isn’t gonna win a peeing contest in this arena either.

Give the people what they want. Consumer dynamics 101

Missed studies that said that OG Star Wars fans overwhelmingly want a thrill ride...weird.

50 is the new 30...

A thrill ride is an automatic sell with the younger demographics...and “old” doesn’t come as early as it used to...

I see very much “ripped” individuals in older age groups in parks these days....health and wealth seem to be joining forces.

Then there’s the “others”...but those buffets aren’t empty - so you can’t please everyone 🤔

Cause star wars fans like thrill rides too.... most of our favorite lands has a thrill ride attached to it. I think you would agree that star wars screams thrill.. doesn't it? Same as avengers and the land that their getting, I hope their new ride is a big ride as well.

But In your post that I responded to, you said, "This land needs that thrill ride for the average non star wars fan guests." You said it needed a thrill ride for the non Star Wars fan. That is what I did not understand. Why would a Star Wars-theme land cater to someone who is not a fan of Star Wars?

I think Galaxy's Edge should have definitely had more than two rides. However, I disagree that every land needs to have a thrill ride. That has really never been Disney's particular niche in the theme parks. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with thrill rides, and if they wanted to add one I would be fine with that. But I just don't think it's an automatic requirement that any new land have a thrill ride in order to be complete.

The most “thrilling” rides are 100% the ones with no fast passes available and the long waits...

Except Peter Pan...which is just weird.

I don’t think you HAVE to have a Star Wars thrill ride. But it is the largest pop culture franchise in the last 40 years...and longterm a wise investment for Disney to sustain interest in their domestic parks.

They didn’t really think rockinroller coaster would be a huge deal...it was cheap by their standards....and she’s still packing them in.

Everest is still doing that and it is a failure from and imagineering perspective. Not even debatable.

Speed sells...to a mass audience. Typically less costly that elaborate dark rides to operate as well. Test track and RSR being exceptions due to bad designs/systems

I totally agree about all lands do not need a thrill ride. I do think that a land on the scale of harry potter and star wars(action, adventure) does need some sort of thrill ride to it. It's in the name lol.. I do think that when there is a coaster, there will be lines and yes I mean for non star wars folks as well. You want to draw the non star wars people just like how I do not like Cars the movie, but if i ever made it out to Disneyland, that would be one of my go too rides.

SWGE isn't particularly for Star Wars fans - or non-fans. It's Disney leveraging a popular IP first and foremost.

As for thrill, ROTR has its moments. In the classic sense of a "thrill ride" it's no coaster. But whizzing around in the various settings, perfectly set to music - makes it thrilling nonetheless. The immersion and non-stop action makes sure of that.

I agree...I just can’t grasp who decided that was THE WAY to go in the first place?

It’s like turning Rock Paper Scissors into chess...making the abundantly simple moves hard

the music was a pretty cool addition, and in a backwards way, helped with the immersion
