RotR: Disney is still not at Universal's level

You can disagree with “my truth”...but I never stand in the way of a person’s right to be incorrect. Case in point.

Funny...that was the rep of this forum. But it’s not the case and I think that leads to greater overall civility here. Mostly.

Maybe when your travel agency doesn’t depend on a police state, eh? 😉
There is no, "My truth". There are facts, opinions, and misinformation.

Got to ride today. I'll admit that I was expecting a bit more of a thrill ride than it is, perhaps along the lines of Dinosaur, but in reality it is more of an all ages ride and only has a height requirement because it needs some form of a restraint system.

Saying it isn't on Universal's level though when this attraction has very clearly raised the bar for the industry several notches higher is odd. If we're basing this on just thrills, well, yes, Universal is more thrill focused than WDW, but Universal having a couple of very intense thrill rides offsets this perception a bit. A greater percentage of Universal's rides are thrill focused, but more of them are in the range of WDW's thrill rides' thrill level than aren't.

Why do you come to this forum? I read some of your posts and they are overtly negative and in some cases factually incorrect, so I ask are you a Disney fan or do you just come here to spew negativity?

He's since answered your question. However the fact he's talking about Rise as though it's generally not been received well seems rather sad. Yes it's all subjective but pick your targets if you want to be taken seriously. There'll be some person who thinks that Fast and Furious is the greatest ride ever, however most would kind of lose respect to those saying it as it's received such criticism from so many. I can accept not everyone liking Rise, however talking about it as though it's an example of Disney doing badly is just bizarre. But that's his opinion.

I've ridden RotR twice now, and while I truly loved the overall experience and level of immersion, I feel like it's missing something very important- THRILLS. I'm sorry but this ride is lacking "juice" in the movement of the ride vehicles. It's just too tame and overall not very thrilling. If the ride vehicles had some of the quicker acceleration and urgency of, say, Indy at DL or Spiderman at IOA, or the multi-direction movement of FJ, it would have locked itself up as the greatest ride ever created. Instead, Disney simply made a relatively slow-moving trackless dark ride ala Mystic Manor or Hunny Hunt with Star Wars theming and special effects. I still think the overall experience is outstanding, but it's just not all that thrilling.

I realize Disney's goal was to make it kid friendly and be inclusive of guests of all ages, but then why put the drop near the end of the ride? That one drop required them to put warning signs all over the ride about sudden drops and everything. If they're going to make one tiny thrilling spot, why not just make the whole ride thrilling?

I think it's remarkable that Universal has had their Spider-Man ride for 20 years now, and Disney's still can't create anything to top it. And they're not even close to FJ.

Note: I still think RotR ranks as one of the very best, but that's entirely due to the overall magnitude of the attraction and storyline as well as the obviously great theming and special effects.

Spiderman was a decent ride, but I still prefer RotR, Indiana Jones Adventure, and TOT over it in terms of Darkride with a thrill. I think you are stuck on physical thrills and ignoring other types of thrills. RotR has plenty of thrills. Being captured by an army of Stormtroopers, attacked and pursued by Kylo Ren (one of my favourite villians), dipping around laser cannons, being caught in crossfire. Heck, I even find the boarding to be thrilling with the urgency given by CMs. It feels like we're escaping from behind enemy lines.

I have not commented/rode on the new ride. I hope I enjoy it.

I do question their IP Choices and to do a simulator and a dark ride/simulator combo...

The land is what it is...I hope the new ride is enjoyable.

I'm ignoring his answers as I'm refraining from getting sucked into his vortex.
All of his posts are as you described. My mistake. I now know better.

What's with the abbreviations on these posts? It comes across as very pretentious. Is it THAT hard to just type "Forbidden Journey"??
People think using acronyms make them somehow more “on the inside”

People were using “SW:GE” 3 years ago...which was problematic on two fronts:
1. Nobody knew what the hell that was
2. That name was and still is stupid

Since you’re ignoring: this is for the rest of the thread:

You asked...you went off topic and made it personal...and you tried the mommy/daddy routine...

And when a reasoned answer came back...you didn’t like it and went the “I don’t have time to engage in the snit I started”...the traditional fake high road tact.

But you’re not reading this...cause you’re too busy

Have you been paying attention to reactions and reviews? Because yeah... it's enjoyable.

Happens in every fan online community. It gets monotonous typing out whole names over and over.

Right...I hope I enjoy it...and not too preoccupied with the bad characters of the DT...

I know the ride has gotten good technical reviews and I know I’ll appreciate that element. Interested to see the overall package - whenever that is...

As far as “monotonous”...nobody is forced to post...and I reject emphatically any notion that people on boards are “too busy” to read OR type. This is designed to kill time

Have you seen the movie buzz? The dark side has won 😂
