I have reservations at the Rose and Crown next week, and we made the reservation at 8:20, so we can watch a illuminations from their back patio. I tried calling to see if they can note it on the reservation, and they said they don't do those requests unless in person and kind of the day of. My question is, I arrive a couple days before then, if I stop by, can they put that nite in then, since it will be in person but a couple days in advance? I mean I should be back at epcot around 6 or so the day of, so I can request then, but I'm afraid that might be too late. Your guys thoughts?

The Rose & Crown is extremely popular because EVERYBODY wants to watch Illuminations while they eat. They will note your request, however, they will usually seat you at the first available table that will accommodate your party - inside or out.
When Illuminations is ready to start, they used to move all those people who were dining inside to a reserved area so that they too could see the show. I don't know whether that still happens or not as I've not been to The World in years and have been absent from these boards for a similar period

This is what I remember from several years ago as well, they let us know we could go down to a viewing area and watch. We had to stand (and it was a little crowded) instead of the lucky ones who were sitting at their tables. Seems like the "viewing area" was on the left hand side (if you're facing the lagoon). I'd be curious to know if this is still the procedure.

there is no separate "viewing" area, but they do let you go out on the patio and everyone seems to have a good view. if you tell your server when you arrive that you plan to go out, they try to arrange food delivery around that time so things do get cold.
relax and just enjoy, don't worry about where you sit. it may actually be hot enough next week that you'd prefer inside until Illuminations time.
