Rope drop for Anna & Elsa?

My family will be heading to MK in June, and my kids, especially my 6 year old daughter loves Frozen and would love to meet Elsa and Anna. Fast Passes to meet them are 'sold out' and I am unwilling to wait 4 hours or whatever to meet them in the middle of the day. We don't mind getting up early, we were planning to to be at rope drop anyway, so I am wondering if we get there 30-40 minutes before rope drop, make the race to the M&G, how much of a wait are we looking at? 30 minutes is doable, 1 hr may be tolerable, any more than that and I think we'll scrap that idea. Thanks!

Cannot tell you just how long the line will be at Rope Drop, good news is, the Mine Train will take a good deal of heat away, as many will rush to that now that it's open.
However, recent visitors have made this other thread and it's quite informative on just how things work at rope drop time these days.

I am still amazed at the amount of families willing to wait several hours in line just to meet them.

On my last trip, my daughters only wish was to see them, but there was no way we were going to wait in line over an hour. We then made breakfast reservations in Norway, and entered the park before it opened. We were the 3rd family in line to see them. We were willing to lose the reservation fee in order to see them and avoid the 4-5 hour wait, however, the Ashkurus House honored our reservations even though we were about a half hour late.

Even though they are now in MK, perhaps making the reservation for breakfast inside the park will allow you to do the same thing I did.

Unlike at Epcot, the MK won't let you get all the way to the M&G. They would stop you at the edges of the hub, or by the hostess stand for CRT. And with the demand, I wouldn't be too surprised if they made you leave the CRT area if you didn't have a reservation.

i did this a few weeks ago. i was there 30-40 min earley and was one of the first people in line for the drop. From there i walk quickly to the castle where we all were escorted to the line, then from there i was about 20-30 min tops to meet the girls. Overall id definatly take this route. it was quick and simple to do. Good Luck!

Yeah I figured they wouldn't be able to get all the way through, but they would at least get to skip the new rope drop procedure, which should save them a bunch of time.

Got in before the park opened. they do not let you into the fantasyland before 9am BUT you can line up at the rope. we ate our breakfast and were outside the rope at about 8:50am. Small crowd already formed due to others finishing their breakfast. they let us go, and you have to go towards the left and all the way around the carousel so a tip, if you're in there before the park opens, stay to the left of the rope. we ended up being about the 5th family in line.

Don't give up on trying to get a FP either! We were just there last week and as of two weeks before our trip, I did not have one. I checked MDE about 5 times a day and one morning, about 10 days before our trip, I hit the jackpot and scored a FP. Checking that many times a day is not a big deal either... I just left the MDE website open and minimized it on my desktop at work and about every hour I would just check to see if one would be available. Amazingly, using this method it took me less than a week to get one. I know that I was very lucky though...

I don't know... all I know is that I checked one morning and there it was, and I clicked on it instantly and got it. When I first saw it, I did a double take and was like "Is this really available?!?!"

Depends on who you believe. Some people have claimed they released some up front, and then others day of, other people are claiming they were told that every slot was released at once.
