Rooms with Privacy?

I've finally convinced my DH to stay on-property (yay)!! But he wants privacy from our 2 sons--understandable as we will have just been on a 7-day cruise, stuck in the same room with them. Other than forking out a ton of $$ for a 1-bedroom villa, does anyone have any suggestions? Right now we are likely going to go with a family suite at AoA, but I have to be honest, the decor just does not do it for me--my kids are pre-teens and aren't as in too that kind of decor. We've stayed at POFQ, POR, Contemporary, and AKL. I guess I should just count myself lucky that the DH is willing to stay on-property and ask myself how much am I going to be in the room? It just looks HUGE and a REALLY long hike to most of the rooms from the parking lot (renting car). So if anyone has suggestions...????

Do you trust them to share a room together next door to yours - possibly with an interconnecting door (or are they too young) ?

Room decor - what difference does it really make ? The longest time that you'll be in your room each day is when you'll be asleep and the decor won't matter.

Unfortunately, somebody has to be furthest away from the parking lot, reception, pool, restaurants etc. I'm guessing that most of your day you'll be in the parks and so that long walk will only affect you twice a day as you leave and return to your room. Again, does this really matter ?

You ought to check out David,s dvc rental have heard a lot of good things about it and you can save a lot of money on a 1 bedroom villa
if staying on property car rental is not really necessary unless planning offsite activities,AKL 1 bedroom villas have two bathrooms also you might want to check into Tree House Villa,s lots of privacy and space and the quiet pool is great

I love Ft. Wilderness cabins, but if you was some room away from the boys that is not the place. Have you tried the DVC rooms at Old Key West? We have stayed in the 1 bedroom suite & it is hugh so I can only imagine what a 2 bedroom would be like. You do have to use their transportation to get around but we never had issues.

Did you consider the family suite at All Star Music? I stayed there with my sister and her husband when my child was nearly 4 years old - we had one bedroom and a sitting room (where my child and I slept) and two bathrooms.

Not sure when you are looking at traveling but if you are willing to pay AoA prices, my I suggest looking at Villa prices at WL since all the construction taking place the prices are a little bit lower than normal.

You make excellent points that I can't really argue against. I think for the price and how long we will really be spending in our room, this will be a good option for us. I also just found out that Coronado Springs also had a Jr. Suite that would've worked but that's starting to add $$. This is a good option for us. Thanks for shining light on great points!
