Room Upgrade at OKW

We are currently booked into a 2 bedroom villa at Old Key West in late August. Anyone know the chance of getting upgraded into a 3 bedroom based on that time of year and today's travel climate.

It would be great to have the extra room....

I doubt that they would do that only because of the huge difference in price of the Villa and the extra cost it takes to maintain. This isn't something like a Standard View to a Water View type upgrade. This costs Disney much more.

I agree, its probably not going to happen. If you have not been in a 2 bedroom at OKW you will be pleasantly pleased at the shear size of the accomdations! Much larger than any other DVC resort. I,m sure you will love it. We have, since we joined DVC in 1994..its our favorite choice(and our home resort).

Thanks for the replies. I have been there before and it is a great resort. I just thought if they had them available, I could split the kids up somewhat.

It is a nice dream, but not going to happen for a number of reasons. Mostly because it is a DVC resort, and they don't do upgrades like as many other WDW resorts do.

2 is because those 3 bedroom grand villas are very poplar among DVC members and and book way in advance. Only OKW and BW have them and they can be hard to get into. OKW are bigger so more pouplar. DVC is also busy in times like late aug when many tradisonal guest don't go since the points are a bit lower then.

We will also be at OKW this Aug (13 to 22) but we are borrowing points from the next year and only have enough left for a studio, but we are really looking forward to it. It will be our 1st time at OKW and 1st time we braved the heat in summer! Lets hope for no hurricanes!

Well, WDW has never had a hurricane (although threats have happened), so let's hope that stays that way! :)

I usually go in August, and it's not much hotter there than it is here in New Jersey (and sometimes, it's cooler!). You'll have a great time. Just think of all the water rides you'll enjoy and still be dry enough for your next meal! :)

Thanks for the update ducky, we used to go to NC very aug and always got hit by one or at least at tropical strom. Good to know about FLA. (I am counting on afternoon down pours though, but at least they clear up fast.) I am really looking forward to enjoying the water there more, even liking getting wet at some attractions. (unlike going in March!)

We've been down in late August almost every year for the last seven, and have been lucky to have had only one really bad rainstorm that lasted all day. There were at least 2 of the years that had no rain for the full seven days of our trip.

Hopefully that will happen again this year....We can't wait!! :sohappy:
