Room types at Dolphin

This is my first posting on this site, and I appreciate any help that you can give me. I am going to Disney 12/24 through 12/31 and I am staying at the Dolphin. I got a teacher's discount for my stay but I later added a resort view with balcony to my res. This increases the cost to $50 more a night than my original reservation. I was told that I would have an epcot view, but I have read that there are no guarantees. Do you think this room type is worth the extra money? Even with the discount, it is pretty pricey during peak times. I am going for my 30th birthday and absolutely love disney--I was a former cast member for the College program in MK back in '97.

We had resort view (minus the balcony) in 1993 when we stayed at the Dolphin for a convention. We had an amazing view of Illuminations. I would think that resort view would secure a view of Epcot since that's what the whole category is about.

I'll have to look you up if I end up staying at the Swan in January. I'm hoping for nurse rate resort view with balcony.
