Hi, Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere. My parents are considering a DVC purchase. Our entire family has 10 people. Is there any accomodations that can hold the entire group? My folks would like to be able to house everyone together if possible. Or are there smaller villa-type rooms available? I'm sure they will be purchasing more than the 150 point value

Thanks for the help.

I strongly suggest checking out the DVC website, as it addresses your questions. Yes, DVC resorts on property have Studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom Villas. The 3 bedroom grand villas would accomodate 10, but you'd be better off getting a few 1 or 2 bedrooms for the most part.

Next time you're at WDW, you should definately take the DVC tour at Saratoga Springs. You'll learn EVERYTHING you need to know, and if you have any questions, the tour guides are sure to have the answers.

Here are amounts for SSR to give you an idea of the number of points you would need to stay 7 nights in either Adventure season (Jan, Sept) to Magic season (Spring Break and Summer). Keep in mind, studio or 1BR capacity is 4 people, 2-BR is 8 and Grand Villa is 12.

So to accomodate 10 people you would need one of the following

3 Studios = 285 to 369 pts
2-BR + Studio = 338 to 439 pts
1-BR + 2 Studios = 372 to 489 pts
GV = 505 to 719 pts

Grand Villas are only available at SSR, OKW and BWV. OKW rooms tend to be a bit larger than the other resorts.
I hope that helps!

Something else to ponder: Many DVC members rent their points when they know they'll be unable to use them. Your parents could concevably buy a certain amount of points to cover the use of a smaller room when the kids are all grown up, and rent other people's points if/when they decide to book a grand villa. I only bring it up because as everyone gets older, you all might not be able to go on vacation at the same time. So unless they're willing to dole the points out to the various kids when their needs arise, there's always either going to be times when points need to get banked or unused (if they don't rent them themselves) OR they'll need more points. They should think about long-term needs first, will they keep going as the family gets older and moves out, and will this family of 10 always go to WDW together?

My advice would be, if they can afford it, to start with 200 points. They could always bank the points one year, and then borrow from another year, giving them 600 points every three years. If they wind up needing more, they can buy points or rent them on an as-needed basis.

I am glad your folks are deciding to become members, get ready to hear, "it was the best thing we ever did" in about 1-3 years once it hits them.
