Room Requests

I already have a room request that I made by phone when I booked my trip. I see that I can do online check-in now and it has that "add request" section and it said I have no requests.

My question is: When you check in, are the Hotel CM's looking at the online requests for your room or the ones that have been made via phone early on?

I'm also afraid my online check-in will "knock out" my previous request which isn't on the list of options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

I was in a situation like that and I called Reservations to make a notation of the Room Request, the CM warned me there's no guarantees, which I was cool about and completed my Online Check In accordingly. I see it like this, when in doubt call Disney. LOL. Hope this info helps you out. :)

So was your request the same via phone AND online? I'm just curious, if the request isn't listed online, will they go with the online request or the phone request upon check-in? Or, do they merge all together somehow so when you get there they have both requests?

I know there's no guarantee but I want to at least try for one request. I just don't want it wiped out or ignored when I get to the check-in desk. I appreciate your help.

I did the Online Check In process as normal and then contacted Reservations to add the notation. You won't actually "see" the notation anywhere on your account, it's for CM eyes only. But from what I know and read in the past, the Room Assigners will look for any notations applicable to picking a room. So that includes special occasions and room requests. You can call Reservations again and ask another CM if they see the notation on your account for peace of mind. Shoot, I did it. LOL.

I breezed through check-in last time because of it. The line for regular check-ins were rather long and it seemed for each person being checked in the process was longer. I don't know if that's always the case, or if I just lucked out.
Fair point. I usually arrive super early or super late so there's never a line.

The experience with counter check in, online or not, will vary with each resort.

I didn't even see a separate line @ key west last month.

In any case, any and all available CM's are there to accommodate. Go to the next available, and get 'er done. :D

I have two young kids, flying in from Boston, so that limits when we can arrive. Basically its during prime check-in time it seems.

No argument there, I understand the resort, time of day, day of month all have a bearing on the check in process. From my limited experience, it did seem though those of us who did the online check in seemed to to finish with that a lot quicker and were on our way that much faster. YMMV as always :)

Yes, the point of online check in is efficiency , I recommend every time.

Not to get too far off topic, but have you considered Providence, Manchester, or Hartford? More options and it might be cheaper.
I literally live 15 minutes from Logan Airport - that can be good and bad ;) For traveling its short money to take a cab. While I agree whole heartedly the smaller airports can save us some money, the fact that we're so close to Logan wins out.

What we will be doing this time, is flying to Tampa staying down there for a couple of days visiting family, and then driving up to Orlando. Flying to Tampa tends to be a little less crowded and sometimes a bit cheaper.

Oh Logan.... I dred having to visit family back home through that airport.

Luckily, most visits come to us now ;-)

Some might say "they don't do that anymore" or "that was the old way"......... but I would still recommend faxing in any requests you have related to your room reservation about 3 days before you arrive. I do this on every booked trip and every time I've gone, my requests have been met (some including asking for the exact same room as a previous visit). The fax numbers for the resorts can be found fairly easy (a number of sites have them), and you'd just address the request to the attention of "Room Assigner".

I've called and made online request and if available, all of them have been honored

But if you have particular requests, it's usually best to go to the front desk anyways. So skipping it isn't much of a benefit.

Lol, you keep nit picking every little thing.

Ultimately you will come to a reason why no one should bother going to Disney World to begin with...

One persons benefit, is someone else's drawback....

The OP asked how best to ensure that their room request be granted. The best way to do that is to talk to the people at the front desk to confirm after making the online/phone requests.
