Hi All!
Do I need to fax a specific form to the resort we are staying at (Pop) in order to request a refurbished room? I already have this as a request, but wanted to be EXTRA sure!
Thanks!!!

When I have made my room requests, I have done when I made my reservations and it would appear on my confirmation information. I never called or faxed to verify since it was already on the confirmation. If you don't see it on the confirmation, then I would call and double check. As for faxing, I have been told by multiple cast members (especially CM's in charge of room assignments) saying the faxing requests is no longer required since the information is on the confirmation. I know some people still fax but I never have and don't think it is needed.

I hope this helped.

Than you! The request is on my reservation, so I think I'm safe to say we are good to go. I wanted to go that extra mile to ensure I was going to get a refurbed room, but I think we're good!!

If I desperately one a particular room, then when I call about something else (like a dining reservation or DME reservation), then I will confirmation again at that time that my request is on file with my reservation.

We have sent a fax every time and somehow got the room and location we have requested all 6 times, I would fax, you do not need anything special or a cover sheet, just take a piece of white computer paper and write down the necessary info for the request, good luck , I would love to know your results

Have you ever tried without faxing?? As I have been told by several room assigners and as @Master Yoda mentioned, fax requested are to be ignored. If you had made your request when you made your reservation, do you think you would have gotten the room and location anyhow???? And, maybe it had nothing to do with the faxing.

In just over 100 resort stays over the last 17-18 years I have never once faxed in a resort request. They have all been on the reservation and on the times I have made them, I can't think of a single time I did not get them.

One thing to note as well, depending on the request, there is often a good chance you could end up getting your request by simple chance. If you request ground floor on a resort with only 2 floors, probability would state you will get what you requested half the time without anyone looking at the request.

This is why I am really not too concerned about not being able to get a refurbed room. The majority of the rooms at Pop are done. When I put in the request, I didn't ask for a specific building, just that it be refurbed. As I've said in my other posts, with only being 2 days out now, I am looking for things to "do" and thought maybe sending a fax would help my chances, but knowing full well my chances with or without the fax would be great.

I completely agree with you. I have NEVER faxed in a request and have ALWAYS gotten the request I initially made.

I would recommend going to the front desk upon arrival, even if you do online check in. We never received our room ready text, so we were forced to go to the front desk, but they gave me a room in a totally different area than we requested (we were at POR and wanted an alligator bayou room for the pull down bed and we were given a room in the mansions). It took them a few minutes, and although I didnt get the exact room I requested, we were still able to get a room in AB section(corner room with 2 windows!), so I was pleased. If you dont get the room you were wanting, it never hurts to ask.

My experience has been when I first book my vacation many months in advance I give my room preferences and they repeat it back to me to confirm. Then each time I call back to update flight info, make an addition or simply inquiry I ask them to check my preferences and almost without fail they claim to have nothing on file. That is why I also send a very polite fax request as well as a call to the hotel about 3 days before arrival and make the request all over again. At that time it,s still been a 50/50 chance they say they have anything listed. Preferences have been a specific building or floor or proximity to lobby but never as specific a number.
Having said all of this, I need to say I have been extremely happy with my room assignments and the closeness to my original requests but it,s often done when I stop at the front desk upon arrival. I always stop at the front desk even though I do advanced check in because if I wait for my room assignment text msg which can be at the end of the day my room location choices are smaller by then if I have to make a request.
It can't be an easy job for the room assigners but I will say , if the requested location is available they do their best to to accommodate.
