Room Rate Help Needed...

Hopefully someone can help me out...We are in the middle of planning our July trip to WDW. My mom wants to make reservations tonight. We will be staying at AKL and will be buying our AP's sometime this month (and activating them before we check in). We plan on using AP codes when they come out like we have in the past. Here is my question...My mom wants to have an idea of what the prices on the rooms will be after the discounts so she knows what type of room to make reservations for. I have no idea what to tell her. I searched on Mousesavers just now, but the page that shows the average discounts for the value season is down (I also tried searching here but had no luck). Does anyone have any idea what the room rates in July would be for standard view, savannah view and deluxe savannah view rooms in July? It doesn't have to be exactly right on, just a rough estimate...Thanks!

The Annual Pass Rate varys depending on season. It's normally around 35% off the rack rate. For a standard room your looking at around $129.05. I have seen the standard room rates as low as $109 too. Hope that helps.

I don't think there is any way you can reliable predict the AP rates (or if they even have them for July). They have in past years been as low as $119 (that I have seen), but it would be risky to say that would be the rate for this year. Good luck :)

I don't think its a good idea to rely on AP rates. What if you wait until May or June and they don't release AP rates for your dates? Just make sure you can afford or don't mind paying the rack rates if AP rates aren't availiable. If you can't afford the rack rates, what if all the other resorts are booked for your dates (July is very crowded).

I think it is a better idea to book a Moderate with a rate you don't mind paying and then upgrade to a Deluxe if AP rates are released. -Stephanie

AP discounts are typically between 35% and 40% of the list price for the rooms. The discounted price can vary about $5 from discount to discount.

Sometime they can be a bit larger. For example a standard wilderness lodge room is now $199 but the AP rate is $109... a 45% discount. But the 35-40% will give you a good ball park idea.

Check http://www.mousesavers.com/faq.html#codetrends for when discount codes have typically been offered. The trend is to announce discounts about a month and a half before the start of this discount.

But AP discounts are not gaurenteed. Last September didn't have any AP discounts at all. The fairytale package (buy 7 nights for the price of 4) really messed up the trend. Room only discounts all but disappeared, AP or otherwise.
