room occupancy question

My family is going to the world and we all want to stay in the same room, but we have 5 adults. My mom spoke with a CM who told her that the rooms at Alligator Bayou have 2 double beds & a pull-out bed. On the disney website it says the pull-out bed for a child 3-9 yrs old. Has anyone seen this bed? Is it large enough for an adult? If not, is there any where you recommed for 5 adults in the same room (we're trying to be as cheap as possible)

Thanks for all the help,
Tracy

Unless you want to stay in the Ft. Wilderness cabins or a deluxe suite, you'll really need 2 rooms for 5 adults. The trundle bed at POR is quite small - definitely not comfortable for an adult.

We stayed at POR last summer.
5 adults in one room there would probably be too crowded.
We had 2 adults & 3 small children & we were kind of cramped (but, it did not bother us too much b'cause we did not spend much time in the room).
The trundle or pull out bed is just big enough for a child, not an adult (I'd feel sorry for the adult who got this bed)
You may want to try to AS suites (I think they are at the Movies resort).
I am not sure about the $.

I would try the value resorts "suites", or the Fort Wilderness cabins. Some of the deluxe resorts are roomy enough for 5 adults, they have a day bed that is very comfy. We have stayed with 5 (adults size kids) at the Poly and the Contemporary. The problem there is the price, can be a budget buster. We love the cabins at FW!

there is no cheap answer. we've dealt with this problem for our past few trips... basically what we end up doing is saying we have 4 people in the room and bringing a blow up mattress for the unlucky 5th person (or having them sleep on the floor). (i know, i know it's against the rules... but we were traveling with poor college students who refused to get their own room)

Your least expensive option for a party of 5 are the rooms at PORS with a trundle bed but I would bag on the idea of using the trundle bed it unless one of the adults are hovering around the 5' mark. You could bring an air mattress with you to PORS and be more comfortable but very cramped. The best option IMHO for both price and comfort will be 2 rooms at a value resort. Being that you are a Florida resident and eligible for the Florida resident discount (when available) the value suites should be way down on your list of options as the cost of a value suite at rack rate (Disney will not discount suites) is only slightly less than the cost of 3 rooms at a value resort and 2 rooms at a moderate.

...faught over the trundel bed every night they loved it.

I LOVED it as well! It was a pain with the pulling it out and hoping that no one stepped on you at night, but really, it wasn't half bad.

Some food for thought: I am only 5'2 and I think that the bed was just about that long, perhaps a bit longer (I can't remember because this was two years ago).

And when I stay in the Contemporary with my family, I opt for the "sofa bed" --the sofa that flips over into a mattress. Maybe it's just me...but I find both to be very, very comfy.

(Plus, I'd rather not sleep with my 20 year old brother, that'd be way too creepy for me!!!)
