Actually, what you read then was incorrect. Because dining plan option is offered, we have done it. https://www.dvcrequest.com/disney-dining-plan.asp
Free dining, I am unsure of, but thought it was offered as well when they are offering it that is.

FWIW, when someone stays in a DVC villa on rented (or owned) points, they are not eligible for any special offers (including free dining) that Disney might be offering at the time, but they can purchase the dining plan (at full price) if they wish -- the member from whom they are renting will have to make the arrangements.

If you are paying rack rate for a DVC villa (in other words, you booked it through Disney like any other hotel reservation and are not staying on DVC points), you can also purchase the dining plan, and if your stay there falls during a free dining promotion, you may be eligible for free dining, if your particular resort and villa category are not excluded from the offer.

i dont think we'll be spending that much time in the room although the cabins look nice!!!

They're very nice, especially with all the renovations they just had (no more carpet in the bedrooms, yay!). I love going to the parks, and pay no attention to crowd level, but I have to say it's really nice after a day at the park to return the peace and quiet of FW and the cabin. Now I'm wishing we were there now!! lol

mouse_luv..i meant the free dining.and i am pretty sure that is not an option using rental points

right now i would say it's a tie between the cabin and POR! i think the kids would really love the cabin
thanks!!!

Thank you for restating half of what I posted and which you quoted.

i know you just dont get it but i hope they will be offering it at that time as they did last year

however i just read somewhere it is not an option of you use renting points

The only way to get free dining is to book a room at rack rates through CRO, either directly or via a travel agent. While DVC members are eligible for the dining plan, it must be paid. You would need to run the numbers, but renting points for a villa and paying out of pocket for food may be more affordable than paying for 2 rooms and getting free dining. I don't think your party fits in a single room, except for some of the suites. And having in room laundry and the ability too cook meals in room with grocery delivery may be a huge benefit with 3 kids.

i am plannin a visit for feb 2017 and need recommendations for a room for three adults two kids and a baby!
nothing too expensive please!
which is your fav resort for a large family?
thanks!

i would check out the villas at WL, AKL , boardwalk and Beach Club if you want more mickey. Coronado resort has some bigger suites that can hold 5. Also some of the bigger rooms are at the Yacht Club, they have 2 queens and a pull out. not sure what money you want to spend.

thanks everyone
we fly from europe, spain..so we have to add roughly 500 per person for flights
there are 5 person rooms in CBR PO and CS apart from the cabins...
the villas are all more expensive :-(
