room for 8??

Hi all! I'm new to this board and thank you all for the info. My family is planning a June 2010 WDW vacation and we were wondering which resorts have suites that will fit 8 adults? Of course, the least expensive one is what we'd want. I'm also wondering what would be more cost effective - a suite/villa or seperate rooms in one of the resorts.
Any suggestions?

Only the 2 bedroom Deluxe Villas can sleep 8 - with a king bed, 2 queens, and a sofa bed.

Your best bet for price is probably 2 or 4 value resort rooms, depending on how many people you want in each room.

I'd go with 2 (or more depending on if you want 4 adults sharing 1 bathroom or not) rooms in either a value or moderate. If it's just 8 adults going, I'd go with the moderate resorts.....less kids. The delux resorts also have rooms with 2 queen beds in them if you want more room instead of just 2 double beds in the modate or value resorts.

The thing to remember is that you are charged for more than 2 adults per room. I think it is minimal, but I don't know the charge. Someone here will know the exact details.

As has been previously said, the only thing that will sleep 8 is a villa. They can be quite pricey. You will be better off, price wise, going with multiple rooms.

Unless the price has gone up, it is an extra $10 a night per third and fourth adult. But, it'll just be added to their price when they book. Shouldn't even notice it.

My sister and her family were going to join us on our trip in a few weeks. They would have had 3 Adults and 1 junior in the room at The Boardwalk. We booked through Pam and I THINK (stress the 'think'!) it was going to be an extra $25 per adult per night. Not sure if that was the price for only the deluxe or if it is the new going rate for all wdw. But 4 adults in one room at that price would add up to $50 per room per night. For that price you'd be better off to go to the values and get the extra rooms. Now if it is only $10 per extra adult you are only talking about $40 per night. But still it might be worth it to put that $40 towards the cost of an extra room (& extra bathroom).

The extra-adult charge depends on the level of resort:

Value it's $10 per extra adult per night.
Moderate it's $15 per extra adult per night.
Deluxe it's $25 per extra adult per night.

I *believe* the Villas are a flat rate no matter how many people you have in them.

Just to clarify, a 2-bedroom DVC unit sleeps 8. The 3-bedroom "Grand Villa" sleeps 12. When people say "villa" here I think "Grand Villa".

If you've never seen a 2-bedroom DVC unit I would seriously investigate it. You get a full kitchen, living room, balcony, king master bedroom with shower/whirlpool tub, 2nd bedroom with two queen beds and bathroom, and a pullout bed (which I believe is a full-size). These accommodations do not even compare to hotel rooms. As Disney calls it, they are your "home away from home."

DVC resorts include Old Key West and Saratoga Springs (Downtown Disney resorts), Boardwalk and Yach & Beach (Epcot), Wilderness Lodge and (soon) Bay Lake Tower (Magic Kingdom), and the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

To book from Disney they cost quite a bit (and as others have posted, it would be cheaper to go with the multiple value rooms). However, you can also rent DVC points from a member for a very reasonable fee. We've rented our points to friends before - obviously it's a bit tricky doing it with someone you don't know, but there are web sites out there that help guide you through the process. In any event, it's worth investigating. If you can somehow manage to get in one of these units, you will be very happy you did.
