Room Decorating

Our trip this year is a celebration of our oldest child's 16th birthday and she certainly knows it's her present for the occasion, as we have invited (and paid for) her best friend to come with us.

However, we want it to be a very special memory, so we were trying to think of some ideas of decorating up her room and thought we would hit the boards to see what others have to decorate rooms or give a celebratory air to their room or door.

Also, is there any particular rules at the resorts that we should be aware of?

I would contact the particular resort you will be staying in. Let them know that it will be one of your party's birthdays, and you would like to decorate the room. The resort may even already plan on having a few surprises there waiting for her.

I've mainly seen windows decorated, not really the doors as wind and weather might ruin the deorations (or possibly the door if something runs on it).

But I would certainly call the resort and let them know what you want to do.

As far as the decorations,..... i am not sure but here is a website http://www.disneyflorist.com/ that has little gift baskets that they deliver to your resort room with different themes. They have really cute birthday ones. Good luck with the planning sounds like it's going to be a blast.

Yep, I visited that website earlier today. :D

I wonder if anybody's had any experience with them? Were you able to get arrangements (like a balloon bouquet) specifically made that's not on the website? I thought it might be kind of cool to have a tink balloon bouquet, as tink is her favorite, delivered but didn't see one on their site.

I hadn't thought to call the resort. I did let the dining people know that we are celebrating a birthday, but since I booked our vacation package online, I didn't see a way to designate that it was a birthday trip. So I will call the resort and have them note it. Thanks for the info.

No problem. I would also call or fax the resort a week to 10 days prior to your trip. This is when they start getting special requests ready to go. If you're planning on having something already in the room for her and her friend, the resort will need this info so Mousekeeping can make sure it is there prior to your arrival.

I'd call the resort as well. When we stayed at WLV for our honeymoon we had mentioned it in the booking and when we came back to the room one night they had 2 balloons attached to a pic of Mickey & Minnie congratulating us. It was so sweet. So they might be able to do something along those lines as well.

I would definitely recommend Disney Florist - my DH always has a little surprise treat sent to the room, and they really do great work. The flowers last the whole week and look fantastic.
