Room Charging

I've got a question about room charges. How do you pay them off? I assume that when you check out, they present you the bill, and you pay them. It's not just attached to a credit card, right? And can you pay with multiple methods of payment?

I ask because I'm going with 3 other friends and I figured we'd just charge all our food to the room and split the cost later. So I'm hoping it works out that they present the bill, we'll split it, and each pay our portion with our credit cards or whatnot.

And also an extra question, if you request a wake-up call, is it something especially Disney? I'm wondering if I should schedule one for one morning (when we have a character breakfast to make), and one of them can pick it up to hear Mickey on the other end or something.

Despite popular opinion, YOU CAN set up multiple room charges in a room ... in other words, 2 people in a room can set up separate, individual room charges at the same time. When doing this, you must use the word "SHARE," telling the front desk CM that you want to set up a "SHARE." If the front desk CM doesn't know about this, ask him/her to get a lead/manager and/or check the front desk manual. It most certainly CAN be done.

Cleve,

Just a note about setting up a Share. We tried this when we checked into Pop Century in September. The CM was aware of setting one up, but after working on his computer for a couple minutes and having problems, he phoned his supervisor. According to his supervisor, they can't set up a Share on a package reservation.

I don't know whether they meant our particular package (Free Dining), or if it was ALL package reservations, but that's what the CM was told by his supervisor. Perhaps it can only be done on a Room Only reservation?

Have you ever set up a Share on a non-Room Only reservation?

they DO NOT put a hold on the amount of your room charge

This isn't necessarily correct. My in-laws recently stayed at POFQ, and not only did they put a hold on the card for charging, they double-charged my SIL for the already paid for room, resulting in some her inability to charge anything. I mean a $5 charge for drinks was declined. After a while at the desk trying to fix it, the money did end up refunded, and Disney cleared enough that they would charge, but it still took several days to get it all cleared up.

To the OP, I'd recommend paying in cash for everything. Design a budget, bring how much you can spend per day, and roll over whatever money is left at the end of the to the next day. It will prevent problems and overspending.

Have everyone bring cash for their meals and when you are at the restaurant, split the bill there, it's far easier and the server's are more than happy to give you change of bigger bills.

Also, when I've stayed at any resort in Disney, I only allow them to put a $100 limit via my credit card on the room. Just because they have preset amounts for each level of resort does not mean it can't over ride it and have another amount instead. Many times a manager has to come out and do it, but it can be done. I have no desire to have $1500 credit on my room key, what if I lost it.
