Room Advice

All right, I'll be honest, this isn't about WDW but it is about TDL but it's usually pretty quiet in that forum. Try to think of this as a WDW situation!

Next April my wife and I are lucky enough to be able to visit TDL for 3 or 4 days. We thought we would make the trip special and stay at the Mira Costa hotel (one of the Disney hotels which definitely falls into the Deluxe category). As a bit of background, this hotel is actually inside DisneySeas (I suppose a little like the Disneyland Hotel is at DLP). Obviously you can have park views or a no park view. In this case I think we will be having a park view.

However, you can pay extra and have a great view! This includes (I think) being able to watch the night-time shows from your room.

So, for those of you who have had great views from any Disney hotel (GF, Poly, Contemporary, BLT, Disneyland Hotel etc), is it worth paying the extra for an amazing view. Keep in mind that we will only be there for 3 nights and chances are we will still be in the parks for the shows which might make it a little pointless. I do however look forward to waking up and looking out over arguably Disney's most detailed and breath-taking park.

wish i could help you out, but i have no idea. i'm one to buy the standard rooms, i only get preferred rooms under special circumstances when i need to be close to the food court or buses (like when i was pregnant) otherwise i'm not one to spend the extra money...sorry!! Hopefully someone else can help you out better!

I'm normally with you on that one - the only time I've ever paid for an upgrade is during our honeymoon when we stayed at AKL - otherwise I tend to think that we spendso little time in the room, whats the point?

For this trip though I has a suspicion that this might be the only time in the forseeabl future when we will be abe to visit Tokyo so I want to make it really special (especially as my wife is very, very excited about the trip).

In the end I guess it comes down to price...

I just stayed at BLT. We were on the 14th floor (good) and paid for an upgraded Bay Lake view. BUT...I felt our view was really oversold to us because when you looked out the window, what you saw directly in front of you was hundreds of other rooms. Look to the right and you saw in the inside curve of the back of BLT. It wasn't until you turned sharply left that you saw Bay Lake itself. Sitting on the couch, all you could see was the building.

I had debated upgrading to a Park View but it was $40 more. I wish I would have spent the different. Waiting for the elevators on the 14th floor, the view of MK was amazing.

I think far too many rooms at BLT are apparently considered a Bay Lake View upgrade that have no business being listed as that. :( Being a horseshoe shape means rooms on the "wings" have bad sight lines and only the ones in the middle truly have a straight-on view.

Just saying be careful because what they try to pass off as a view might not actually be what you expect.

I can help you out on this one... First hand.

I wrestled with the same thing. Stay at the Mira Costa, or one of the partner hotels? Will we really be at the hotel much? Is it worth it? Then once I had determined we'd stay there, I had to decide how badly I wanted a park view.

We got the park view. AMAZING. First off, we could see BraviSEAmo from our room. Very cool. But... Be aware that you can NOT hear the audio worth anything in your room. The windows only open about 2 inches. So we only watched it from the room once. The rest of the time we watched it from right up close. Much better. But I wouldn't worry about BraviSEAmo. Waking up to that view is unbelievable. Just sitting there staring at the mountain out there at night was great, too.

If you're like me, Tokyo is going to be a rare trip. If you can afford it, DO IT.

I'll also say that before we went on that trip, we thought it would be a once in a lifetime trip. But... The country was amazing. The people were amazing. And the Disney parks and entire resort is what every other Disney park in the world should strive to be like. After our trip, we decided we would be back... And soon.

Wanna see the view from our room?? And imagine it at night... When the volcano is rumbling and spewing fire!:eek:

WOW! That pic is amazing!!!

I can't speak to Tokyo Disneyland, but I can sort of relate with Disneyland Paris. I went years ago and my dad and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge -like place (the one that later burned down). While we were there we went to each hotel and had drinks. The hotel at the main gate was awesome! I would absolutely pay more to stay there and pay for the park view. Just sitting in the bar having a drink looking at the view was amazing.

I say if you can afford it, go for it. When we stay at the YC we do everything we can to stay in a water view room, it's worth it to us.

Please post pics when you get back!
