Me and my fiance are going dec 16. He has never been there:cry:
What is the best restaurant for a romantic dinner. I have been thinking about the California Grill. How is it? I just dont want the portions size to be too small cuz we both lov to eat:D .
How is the view of illuminations from there and What would be the best time to go to dinner to see it?

Thanks!!!

Cali. Grill is a good choice. You are going to see Wishes @ MK as opposed to Illuminations which is at Epcot. Wife and I love Chef's counter at Flying Fish.
Have fun

I would highly recommend Cal Grill as a romantic restaurant. My fiance and I actually got engaged there in September! We've been there several times and the service is always excellent, as is the food and portion size is generous. He is a big eater and couldn't finish his meal. If you want to see Wishes be sure to make your priority seating arrangements at least an hour before they are scheduled to begin, that will increase your chances of getting a window seat (but just know that you can always head out to the roof to watch as well). Also, check in at least a half hour prior to your scheduled p.s. (thus, an hour and a half before Wishes is going to begin). You can always walk around the contemporary resort or catch a drink by the pool bar and sit out by the dock.
Whatever you decide, have fun and enjoy!

Have to buck the common wisdom here. While the CG does have good food and service, I do not find it romantic at all. Especially when half the hotel and other external guests all try to crowd out on the balcony to see the show. Gets very noisy too. Unless they've stopped letting non-diners have access during the show?

I would heartily recommend Narcoosee's at the GF. The food is as good, the view, while not up to CF standards, is still acceptable, and we've NEVER had bad service. What can't be beat is the atmosphere. Much more relaxed and intimate than almost any of the better restaurants.

You now need a res. to get up to the restaurant.

The portions aren't as generous as other resturants, but my wife and I always enjoyed dinner at Rose & Crown at Epcot. It has a patio for outdoor dining. Make a reservation between 8 and 8:30, and sweetly beg for a patio table. You'll be able to enjoy Illuminations from there without dealing with crowds. It's where I popped the question last year.

This hasn't got anything to do with a romantic dinner, but shouldn't you give your fiance a bit more credit...
So maybe next you'll use my fiance and I... which is alot nicer to your fiance.

And about romantic dinners... the upmost romantic dinner expierience is Victoria & Alberts located in the Grand Floridian...
It'll cost you a bundle, but you'll never forget this dinner...

I really have to say - the restaurant in the Mexico Pavilion - San Angel Inn - has the best mood in Epcot. I always will wait for (or get a reservation for) a table down at the water's edge. It's dark, you are under a starry sky that is pretty convincing, and it has an intimate feeling even tho the table are close together. I've never had a weak margarita there either. :animwink: And then the RIDE right after dinner is really romantic (OK in a weird way) right up until the small-world flashback. But I love the parks so much that just going to a resort restaurant doesn't do it for me.

CG should be nice and romantic, if you're sat away from the noise of the kitchen. Other options: Jiko @ AKL, V&A @ DGF, Bistro de Paris @ EPCOT. All very nice, good service. That said, they are fine dining, so it's not huge portions. Check out the menus and see what appeals to you. FWIW.

Also it depends where you're staying. When we've stayed at the GF, we always get a room with a MK view and will often get room service or desert and eat on the balcony in our robes. Pretty darn romantic. Otherwise CG is great if you get a table to coincide with the fireworks. Victoria and Alberts is fantastic (I proposed to my wife the night we ate there, and we're going back to celebrate our 5 year anniversary next year). San Angel is nice to, also don't forget the Brown Derby, if you get a booth you can sit next to each other.

Regardless of the resturant you decide on, make your reservations as early as possible. My boyfriend and I will be at WDW during the week of Dec. 9th and we called for reservations two weeks ago - most of our "first choices" were booked for the dates/times we wanted.

The CG, Rose and Crown and Le Cellier were not available for any of the nights we are there - if they did have availability it was after 9:40 PM, which was a bit late for us...We wished we would have called much earlier! :brick:
