Romantic Dinner at WDW

I am planning a trip down to WDW in August with my mom, sister and girlfriend. It will be my girlfriends first trip to WDW and I wanted to plan a nice romantic dinner for just the two of us to have some alone time at the resorts. I am planning to stay at the Boardwalk. My first thought was Victoria and Albert's but then realized that my girlfriend might not be comfortable with the formality of the place. So I was thinking either Artist's Point(to which I have never been) or California Grill (to which I have been). Any other suggestions? I would also love to hear what anyone else has planned or has done for a romantic dinner at WDW.

I agree, AKL is an amazing resort and Fiko's is the best in the AKL. Simply delicious.

Hey MarcV, can you go onto AIM please so we can chat?? Sorry for the off-topic reply.

Ok, here are my comments, short & sweet...
California Grill - good food, but too noisy
Les Chefs de France - Very elegant and quiet. Be forewarned that most of the waiters have VERY thick accents.
Jiko - Very nice, especially if seated by the water. Go walk and look at the animals afterward.
Artist Point - They usually serve more exoctic food, like ostrich or wild boar. It is very good, but go later in the night when less kids are around. If you are just a couple, you have a better chance of sitting by the windows. After you're done, walk by the waterfall or down to the beach.
Rose n Crown Pub - If your idea of romance is sharing a pint together, this would be great. Make reservations later in the night and you can finish up dinner while having lagoon-side seats.
Sci-Fi Diner - If you want to pretend you're teenagers again at the Drive-In. Just watch out who you share a car with.
Hollywood Brown Derby - If you can get a booth, yes. Otherwise, the tables seem to be very close together.
San Angel Inn - The concept is very cool, but the tables are very close together. Sitting close to the river is nice, but the people passing by in the boats seem to always want to take pictures of the restaurant, blinding you in the process.
L' Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante - I am drooling at the thought of their alfredo! Sometimes they will have strolling musicians, which can be nice.
Restaurant Marrakesh - Belly dancing anyone? The dancer will also invite others to dance with her. The food is very good, and they give you A LOT!

My wife and I have done Le Cellier and Cali Grill as our romantic meals. (actually, the first time we went together, our romantic meal was Chef Mickey's. But that's another story.) Le Cellier is good because it is somewhat dark and intimate. Cali Grill is great for the food and fireworks. I never really noticed the noise. We were around tables that had kids, but I just didn't notice. After a day in the parks, Cali Grill seemed almost sedate.

I haven't tried it yet, but what about Citricos? I was thinking of that one for our next trip.

We ate at Artist Point for our anniversary in February and it was really special. It was Valentine's Day so the romance factor was in full swing. There are tons of other romantic things you can do too. We ordered the Strawberry Turndown Service at the Poly and it was incredible and a great surprise to my husband. A fireworks cruise is another very romantic thing to do and you can order champagne service. It's just you and the captain. We did that after dinner at Artist Point. You'll have a great time no matter what you do, it's kinda hard not to! :animwink:

1. Victoria & Albert's - the castmembers are great. It's amazingly romantic with wonderful food. You won't feel too "formal."

2. Jiko - Have to agree, it is a fanstastic restaurant. Setting, savannahs and food. Less expensive than V&A too.

3. Artist's Point - a little less formal, great food. Romantic setting (although more spacious than the others).

4. California Grill - very creative menu and setting. It is (or can be a tad noisy), but ask to be seated in the wine room in the back - less hustle and bustle.

5. Bistro de France - not Chefs de France on the lower level, Bistro is around the corner on the upper floor of the French pavillion in Epcot and only serves dinner. It's a wonderfully romantic place as well.
