Romance in Disney?!?!

I am visiting WDW in Sept 2007. I am booked at the Animal Kingdom Lodge with my partner. I was hoping anyone could offer me advice for best restaurants and any hidden secrets you think could help. I have already reservations for Contemporary Grill to co-incide with Wishes, San Angel Inn and Jiko.

im not sure what your budget is, but i say try for victoria and alberts! its in the grand floridian, a fixed price menu, very expensive, but so worth it i am told. my fiance and i have reservations for our honeymoon in august! :)

ohana's is also nice, le cellier, and lots of other places. im in the same boat, trying to figure out dining things. we are also going to try jikos. we are staying at the animal kingdom lodge anyway, so why not! you can check out www.allearsnet.com they have the menus, reviews, and prices too! good luck!! :wave:

If you can, try and stick around at night for the Kiss Goodnight at the castle. It's a pretty light show on the castle with music and a special goodnight message over the speakers. I'm not sure it's played everynight so I usually ask at City Hall if they know which nights it's going to be played. Not many people know about it and there's usually not a ton of people around when it plays. Find a bench to relax and enjoy!

My two cents on the subject

I will also second the suggestion for Victoria and Albert's. My husband and I go everytime we are at WDW. The food is FANTASTIC - you have to like gourmet food mind you - and the atmosphere is just awesome. The service is elegant and knowledgeable without being stuffy. We have dropped over $300 here in a single meal and felt it was all totally worth it. Of course you don't have to spend that much - we got the wine pairings and menu extras like white truffles and foie gras (we are a young married couple without children so we like to splurge at WDW.) If you and your partner like fine dining, it is THE place. The menu is seasonal, but I'd recommend checking out past menus and seeing if it fits your tastes and budget. It also nice that you get a personalized menu to take home with you to remember the occasion.

The California Grill at the Contemporary is indeed nice and the food is excellent as well, but I personally find it a bit too hectic to be all that romantic. It is nice when they dim the lights and pipe in the Wishes music.

I also think the Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great choice for accommodations. The Savannah view rooms are great. There is nothing quite like coming back from a day in the parks and sitting quietly on your balcony to watch the animals in the moonlight.

The Kiss Goodnight is also a great suggestion, because many people have already filed out by the time it happens. It's also great to get photographs then because main street is virtually empty.

WOW!!! Thanks for all your great ideas!!! I was really considering V & A's but think its a little out of my budget for this vacation!!! I'm only a poor little castmember lol!!! Thankyou for all yhour help!!!!!! The castle kiss goodnight is something I'll definetly stick around for then!!!

You picked a perfect place to stay and a perfect restaurant in Jiko. And if Victoria and Albert's is a little out of your league, you could instead try Bistro de Paris, which is nicer than Chefs de France. Then again, you ARE from Paris, so maybe that's not the most original idea. But you can't go wrong with Jiko. It's sophisticated and the food is incredible.

There are plenty of places at AKL to sit and relax. The Victoria Falls Lounge is nice and you can take your drink and sit by the fire pit in the lobby. If you're staying in a Savannah view room, you could also grab a bottle of wine from the gift shop and watch the animals from there as the sun sets.

i can't really comment on romance in WDW as we had our mother in law with us 24 -7 for the whole holiday!! :mad: but wishes is nice so your meal at the contempary would be fab. We are going to disneyland paris in three weeks time and everyone i know whos been to florida keeps saying i will be disappointed have you got any tips by the way im not going on the rides ill be 5 months pregnant but my husband and son will be grateful:sohappy:

I always like to rent a pontoon boat and just float near the castle and take pictures and watch people come and go. My wife and I find that to be romantic.

i am not getting engaged or anything but the last kiss goodnight show sounds intriguing!

is it only on at certain times? im going next week shall i ask a CM at magic when im there?

Just ask a CM at City Hall on the days that you're at the Magic Kingdom. They can tell you what times it'll be playing that night.

You should do a private fireworks cruise at EPCOT or the MK. It would be so romantic!

Plus- it's always romantic to take a stroll through the gardens in Canada near Le Cellier- especially at night!

All of the above suggestions are great. Two other places that both myself and my significant other enjoyed were Narcosees at the Grand Floridian and Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. At Narcosees and at Artist Point, we got to enjoy the Electrical Water Pageant. At Artist Point, they even encouraged us to take our glass of chamagne and stand outside watching it. You can also see wishes from Narcosees.

As for California Grill, this is one of our favorite spots on property. It is no longer the hectic place it once was. Restricting the restaurant to those with reservations or those who only wish to eat/drink at the lounge has elevated the level of service and made it more intimate.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter where you eat or what you do for romance, you and your partner being together on vacation at Disney World is romantic and magical enough! Enjoy!
