Rokinon Lenses

I found the comparison useful. It shows me what you get for the extra $5-600.

Then one can decide if it's worth it.

What I did find out is I can buy the Nikon 50mm lens for about $250 and a Nikon lens adapter for about $25 and use Nikon lenses on my Sony NEX-7.

not even... a D version is no more than 125 bucks. The price difference between the 1.4 and 1.8 is steep and not worth it for another stop of light. Although the 1.4 does have more aperture blades, so bokeh is better on the 1.4 but not a huge noticeable difference.

129 bucks.

Ok, let's get back on track here. Let me just re-state my intentions with the thread...

I see that Rokinon lenses are really cheap, I even referenced one or two I believe. I have a CANON T3, so Nikon people, I'm sorry, but I'm asking the CANON users. I'll take your input into the lenses, but I brand to brand I know things change. For instance, the only Rokinon Fisheye that has the chip in it, is the NIKON lens, Canon doesn't have it.

So, anyway, I'm asking this: For how much/cheap these Rokinons are, whether it be a fisheye, or 800x zoom lens, are they worth it? I'm not a pro by any means, so the jargon can and probably will confuse me, lol, but for having some fun with some different lenses, are these worth the cheap price tag? (going off the old saying of, you get what you pay for)

While things can change brand to brand they aren't drastic enough to completely change the final product. Chip or no chip that does not alter the optics of the lens, a chipped version will not take a better image... It will only help the process by communicating with your camera.

In terms of "is it worth it?"... Yes, but only for unique focal lengths. The fisheye is the only lens I could see purchasing because the Nikon / Canon equivelant is very expensive. But the other lenses, pass as there are cheaper and BETTER alternatives from all the major manufacturers.

I have the 8mm that I use with my 60D. It is a great lens for the price and I love using it. It is really a fun lens to have at Disney. I think it is definitely worth the price and like was mentioned when compared to the Canon version it is an easy choice if you have a use for a fisheye.
