All this talk about Tomorrowland got me thinking about the now extinct, but amazingly awesome, attraction, Rocket Rods. Any Disneylanders on here miss this ride? I know I do, it was so much fun. That blast off was so cool the ride was seriously long! I wish they'd get a new ride system and put it back but that's not gonna happen. Oh well.

Well, the Flying Saucers came back, so maybe the Rocket Rods can too... just give it about 40 years! If they had just banked the turns, the ride might still be running today.

With the Tomorrowland makeover looming, I feel like they have to do something with that track. It's probably either those pods from the Incredibles with the LIM ride system from WDW or ripping out the track at this point. I don't think the Imagineers will like having to design their grand plans around the old track just to save it for some point in the future.

Yeah I really wish they'd do SOMEthing with that track. It looks so sad and I just keep wishing a Peoplemover would appear there =(

I don't really miss Rocket Rods. But, I would like to see the PeopleMover return in some form.

Thanks for the video. I only have vague memories of riding this when it was still running. A couple weeks ago while riding the monorail we were wondering what the other tracks we were passing by. Now the mystery is solved.

I don't know all the reasons it's sat abandoned for so long or why they never tore it down, but they need to do something with the track. I hope they would be willing to spend the money ala DCA to make a new PeopleMover. I'm not sure how much maintenance the track gets, I'm sure it's not much if any, so I'd guess they would need to basically start fresh. Due to it's location, I could imagine that any sort of construction done to the track could potentially close all of TomorrowLand.

Ditto, the tracks can't sit there forever. Why have tracks if they're not going to be utilized??? Obviously they left them there for a reason but for Pete's sake, USE THEM FOR SOMETHING! Geez...

It's practically a tragedy that Disneyland doesn't have a Peoplemover anymore.

Right? At the time I'm sure it was the longest coaster type ride in the entire park. I'm hoping the tracks will come down soon.
