Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Hopefully, I put this thread in the right section of the Forum. LOL. The Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in HS, is it safe to wear glasses? I wear glasses and with G-Force winds and the numerous corkscrews amongst other things, I'm concerned about my glasses accidentally flying off. I might consider going to LensCrafters to get something to keep it on my face but I honestly don't want to. LOL. So what's the deal guys?

After one trip where I was constantly taking my glasses off for fear of losing them, I purchased a pair of straps from a dollar store. For $1 I got one black strap and one white strap. Maybe they are unnecessary, but they made me feel a whole lot better. I can't read anything without my glasses and would hate to lose them!

There is only one roll over and one corkscrew. People wear glasses on much wilder coasters and all should be well if they fit properly.

I was very nervous about this in 2013, rode every thrill ride without my glasses and got so sick of it. Came home, decided for 2014 I will go to my eye doctors and have her tighten up my frames. I did this and had no problem at all. As long as your doctors office is able to tighten up those frames and they feel comfortable to you and they don't fall off when you shake your head a little...you'll be fine. As Daisyduckie said you can always purchase a pair of those straps.

I've never taken my glasses off for any ride and they have never come off. I've ridden everything at DW at least 10 times and never had a single issue. Bear in mind I also swim in the ocean and pool and play in adult soccer leagues with glasses on. And no, I don't have crazy sturdy glasses (although the lenses are quite thick due to my 'blindness'). I just get them adjusted every few months to make sure they are snug.

I don't wear mine. It is more similar to a typical theme park coaster. Imagine losing your prescription glasses and not having a replacement for days.

I've worn shades on Universal's Hulk/Rockit/Dragons Challange, you should be fine on Disney's Rock N' Rollercoaster.

I don't have glasses, but I did accidentally wear my sunglasses on my head during RnRC and they miraculously stayed on. ToT however, I put them on the front of my shirt and during the. drop they flew up and my sister (sitting next to me) caught them!

Quoted for truth and logic. It is an easy fix and would eliminate any concern.

I have worn glasses on RcRC with no problems at all, but, it would stop any and all anxiety about it to just get the strap. You maybe will not be photographed for any fashion magazine as the next thing in fashion, but, who cares! It will help you have stress free fun and be able to see things other then a blur. In Disney if you don't have vision, you have missed out on most of the experience in my opinion.

I was planning on taking my glasses off to ride Rock n Rollercoaster, but because I was so darn nervous once we got into the vehicle (first time riding!!!) I completely forgot. Anyway, the glasses managed to stay on throughout the ride (this is despite the fact that they slide off my nose constantly anyway) so I think you'll be fine :)

Maybe I'd get a strap if it worries you, but Aerosmith is smooth, your head is well braced, and the centrifugal force keeps everything in place.
Not like Space Mountain with its abrupt and jarring jerks and drops.
Space Mountain beats the heck out of me.

I like Aerosmith man so no earplugs necessary, besides, its adds to the experience. :D

I don't hate them, per se, but they've always seemed overall just a generic rock band, and a generic choice for a Disney ride, which should be anything but ordinary. I'm not sure what band could've worked. I think the whole concept just isn't that interesting, the limo ride to a concert. And why are they in the studio listening to Sweet Emotion? That's song's finished years ago! They couldn't even come up with a new song! :)

The overall cost of licensing might have more to do with that than anything else I'd imagine. More prestigious bands would command more on a year-to-year basis than Aerosmith would. And to be honest, no matter what band got picked, there would be someone who was unhappy with the results.

As far as the glasses, you shouldn't have a problem, but I'd agree with the previous posters that a better safe than sorry approach wouldn't be a bad thing. Why take the one-in-a-million chance when its easily preventable, and then you don't have to use the strap all day if you don't want to.

Generic rock band?
Maybe their comeback period was generic, but Aerosmith reside just under the British bands (Zeppelin, The Who, Sabbath, Stones) when it comes to Rock and Roll greatness.

I find the whole concept fantastic, and one of my favorite in the parks.
I'm sure Sweet Emotion was chosen for the studio portion because it is a classic that so many people know - even those that might not know Aerosmith, and it never goes out of style.

IMO they've been pretty generic ever since the early 80's. But they were always the working man's band, the every man band, the bar band, and look...there's nothing wrong with that, i'm not a music snob. But for a Disney attraction they just seem way too familiar, too crowd pleasing. Aerosmith doesn't provide transcendence, just good solid rock. Maybe I just hold Disney up to impossibly high standards, but Walt didn't settle for just good. Then again what rock band could've worked? Honestly, I think it's a very limiting concept, because any popular band is not going to provide enough of an escape; it's too familiar, too down to earth. If anything, a fictional band would've been more interesting, and something you can keep changing with the times.

Maybe I'm nitpicking with Sweet Emotion, but I have to be honest and admit that part of the ride makes me laugh, for the wrong reasons. First time I rode it, I said to my brother "really? They're mixing a song that's been a rock classic since the 70's and acting like it's a new song?" He laughed and said "It doesn't matter, it's all about the ride." But to me it matters. It's an old song, and it's insulting to anyone with even the slightest amount of Aerosmith knowledge. Unless the ride took place in 70's, that could work, but then why the 70's?

I dunno, Does anyone else feel the same way?

One of the few rides I take my glasses off, since I am blind without them.
