Recently WDI has taken a VERY close look at the "RoboCoaster" concept. Close enough to have one installed in the shop.

Time will tell what this means.

What's a robocoaster?

Like RoboCop? All 1980's? Oo.. oo.. They're putting it in the Wonders of Life as a stage-show-ride with the 1980's look of the pavillion fitting perfect with RoboCop as he tries to save a "Up with Health!" Fitness Fair evil Lord something or another. I bet at one point he has a humanity-moment and pets a kitty or makes a small girl stop crying.

I'd be curious to see if they're interested in the stationary Robocoaster or that which rides along track, if any at all.

The stationary Robocoaster looks pretty boring, though I can envision it having some keen uses. Stick a dozen or two of them into CAVES, hand riders some goggles and away they go on some pretty crazy, film-based adventures.

On rails? Oh, man, that'll revolutionize dark rides the way The Indiana Jones Adventure did. The only thing I can imagine coming close to what those things can do for dark rides is Vekoma's Pandora's Box. It'd be great to see when of those pop up somewhere, too.

Robocoaster is awsome. Its basically this giant robot arm that holds people and can spin them and move them around a room at various speeds and stuff. Think of it the next generation in simulator technology. Their was a rumor going around for awhile that Tony Baxter was working on a new "robocoaster on rails" system and the ride would be based on The Incredibles.

That looks insane! Its crazy that it is outdoors in the vid! I can see The Incredibles for sure. The end fight sequence would fit perfect with that! How does it work though????? Do you were like Virtual Reality goggles or something??

the biggest problem with the robocoaster, specificly the tracked version is that it has a very low ride capacity. That is probably the biggest problem with the ride.

How come Knights Kingdom gets such an innovative ride system in their attraction while Bionicle gets overglorified teacups? It's just not fair...

what would the story be behind the ride, it is one thing to base a ride on an attraction but what will the story be! also what about the preshow?? hhhmm, it does look like a cool ride though. however it does not seem very disney like. WAIT what does the track version look like?

If you want more proof of Disney's potential relationship with the Robocoaster people, check out one of the newest exhibits at Innoventions. It's a bunch of robot arms playing car parts as musical instruments. It's a really cool exhibit, and it's created (and sponsored) by Kuka, the guys who make Robocoaster.

By the way, I've ridden and I didn't think it was fun at all. It looks like it moves slowly, but it doesn't take much to force all the blood into your head at which point any additional movement starts to really hurt.

It REALLY doesn't seem appropriate for safe Disney-style entertainment. I can imagine someone with a pre-existing condition in their brain having REAL problems with this ride, at least with the programs they were running at IAAPA a few years ago.

Since this is being concidered for a Disney attraction, what makes you think it will be completely inverting the riders? Why not just moving slowly through a dark ride style attraction but lifting you clear over things and turning you completely sideways, personally, just the RoboCoaster does look pretty boring, but if its combined with The Incredibles like mentioned before this could be a really cool attraction. Where it would go is another question.

It's just a rumor...for now, anyways...one that seems to have come from nowhere...

Lee...Corrus...anyone else in the "know", what do you think....

Just imagine it slowed down with 3D googles, and you've got the next ride system past Spiderman. The potential is enormous. Fingers crossed.
