RnRC Breakdowns

When I was in WDW around the first week of March, Rock n Roller Coaster broke down a few times while I was at MGM. One of these times was for a few hours. I have read how other people have noticed it breaking down recently also. Is there a reason why it has been breaking down so much recently?

From yesterday and today, I've heard that Coaster has been having a LOT of problems. From what I've heard and talked to some people about, it's mainly the launch system having some problems right now.

The manufacturer of this ride (Vekoma) has had a long history of building sub-standard coasters. It certainly sounds like the Vekoma tradition has finally caught up with RnRC.

I've been noticing this too, but I just put it up to plain old bad luck until now. During my most recent visit a week or two ago, I was just one train away from boarding when the lights in the queue suddenly brightened. An announcement that I never heard before at this attraction started playing ("Please remain seated, your vehicle may begin moving at any time", or something similar). Pretty soon there were several techs/management types on the scene, and the work lights over the launch area were turned on.

Everyone in the alley was offered a pass to return at any time. I got to use the chicken exit for the first time :).

Well, no one wants to have bad things happen in our parks, but that new neighbor of ours next door blasts their music and bright lights all night! Don't they know we have guests trying to sleep over here?

Well, if coaster is down, drop by the tower, we have a near perfect operational performance.

I was there a few weeks ago also and the exact same thing happened to me! Maybe we were both there at the exact same time. That would be weird.

I've never had RnR break down while I was on it. However, in1976, Space mountain stopped just as the rocket I was in was at the top of one of the drops. After about 5 min, the interior lights came on. CM's came onto the tracks and talked to everyone in the rockets. They said that someone in the control booth had stepped on the emergency stop button by mistake. WE sat there fo a half an hour while they cleared rockets from the track. It was different finishing the ride with the lights on.

Can I have that half hour of my life I spent in the basement of the Hollywood Hotel back now?

Once it broke down while I was in line. Something about the launch and the magnets...anyways we decided to just wait it out, most people left, but the ride was back up in about 10 minutes. The people that rode it right after it was back up got to ride twice in a row without getting up b/c the music wasn't on the first time.

I had a problem w/ RnRC last year. The restraints on some of the cars weren't working...which would be bad with 3 inversions. They ran at near-capacity till about noon, kicking the wait up to about 45-50 min or more.

April 2001 - we were at the front of the line when they started to experience "technical difficulties". They must have run the cars around the track empty 20 times and they still weren't letting people on. No real explanation given by the CMs either.

In the first year of its opening, RnRC broke down all the time. We used to wai tin line, the "voice lady" would say that they are having technical difficulties and we'd get an honorary fastpass to return whenever. But i mean this happened ALL THE TIME. It was no big deal, nothing serious. Coasters break down all the time.

Or the time our car was sitting there just before it moves out into the ride system and nothing came to get us. After 20 minutes right in front of the door at the top, we got to finish with the lights on.

As far as RnR goes I was there not too long after it opened and remember the intercom voice telling us it was down one or twice.

Last time when we were there in November it was down almost the whole day. I'm not sure if we even got to ride it but if we did it was late in the day already! I've never had problems w/this ride before!

The first time it broke down I had just gotten out of the pre-show and a train was waiting to be launched. Well, when they turned the lights on and made announcements a few poeple got scared and didn't want to ride in the first train after it started working. So they took them out. I was nervous b/c I had a PS for 50's Prime Time and I was meeting people there so they almost lost the table because they were waiting for me and another person who was with me.
