RnR, ToT "Guest Enhancement"??

A cast member friend of mine was telling me that he signed up to ride ToT and RnR after hours one day this week for "Guest Enhancement" testing. Possibly with the lights on. Anyone here know anything about this? Any ideas on said Guest Enhancements?? I for one would like to see RnR with the lights on!!

He also mentioned something similar going on at AK with Everest and Dinosaur, but didn't sign up for those.

I'm not sure if it's actually for "guest enhancement" but I do believe they have opportunities for cast members to sign up to ride some of the dark rides with the lights on.

My bet would be on they are just working on the effects of the ride, maybe they made some minor changes with show elements and are just making sure everything is still syncing up. Or maybe they repainted some show elements and want to see if theres a difference, or they put new seats on and want to see if they're comfortable, who knows what. It could very well be nextgen testing though. Although imagine some of the cooler possibilities with Tot, doing something similar to the rebel spy on star tours and imposing the faces of select riders in the hallway scene.

Jim Hill has been talking about a non-line line for RnRC for a while. Where there would be activities to do while you wait standby and then your tour group is called. I wonder if it's related to that.

Be careful what you wish for, you and Disney may have very different ideas about what "improvement" means.

My guess would be either effects tweaking/testing or after years of "Space Mountain with lights on" youtube vidoes Disney may have figured there's an extra pay market to see that kind of stuff.

I have heard a variety of rumors, but it could also be related to MyMagic+/Fastpass+/MagicBands. I doubt it would be anything related to the actual props inside as that may affect daily operation. Another rumor is a new drop profile at ToT or a new music at RnRC. I bet we're going to hear reports back that it was just a "test & adjust". Many attractions do these with dummies and sometimes with cast members depending on what is being done. Probably nothing too significant.

How many drop profiles are there? Last time I went on I think I dropped like 5 or 6 times. Crazy.

Yep. Sad to say, but at the rate CMs are paid, probably cheaper to replace them than the dummies if something were to go wrong.
